Thanks for the detailed description. You've convinced me that I need the ADS struts... My struts are starting to reach end of life (they clunk on hard bumps and are not that stiff) but they aren't stiff enough for me even in sport mode. (I'm hoping they will be more stiff when swapped for new)

Hi all,
Did my rear standard swap out a few weeks ago and put in 1.5 ohm 10 watt resistors and the light has never come on again. Worked like a charm. Now for the fronts, they started riding like a horse and buggy a week later! I'm planning on installing the KYBs struts only. Has anyone had any issues on bolting these right up with existing hardware?

Had the front struts replaced today to the standard ones. Ride is a lot better, no more banging over bumps. Installed the same resistors I put in the back (1.5 ohm 10 watt) but ADS light is on. Any suggestions? Maybe try 2 ohm 10 watt??

Are you guys quoting the acura shock prices of $500 each? There are aftermarket brands you can install for MUCH cheaper. My Mech/buddy will be doing ours as the rears have faded and are bouncy, but his cost is $70 each and I think retail was $170... Yes, they are adjustable/magnetic for the sport model.
This is great news. I have been looking for aftermarket ADS magnetic fluid shocks. Can you get the brand name from your mechanic friend, and post it on this site.

Jim

Jim, what year is your vehicle? I just picked up a 2008 Elite. Do you go to dealership for service? I am planning to go to Silverhill although I have heard many good things about Hu's garage.
Mine is a 2007 Elite, that I bought about a year ago. I do go to the dealer for oil changes and a cat converter covered by warranty. Other than that I changed my own rear shocks to regular shocks, and am trying to find time to do the front strut assemblies.

That's what he said. I asked him if these were direct magnetic replacements and will retain the sport functions. He said yes.

Any news on the replacements if it's actually aftermarket ADS shocks? If so what's the brand, and where can we get them?

And for those who used the KYB rear shocks, where do you get them?? You can PM me if not allowed to post. Any help is appreciated since I need to replace both rear shocks and I rather just go with the standard ones.

I was just looking on EBay, and see basically the KYB 341075 (So I'm assuming they are interchangeable 1 for each side) and do you have to purchase anything else with that?? Like boots, or anything like that? I just want to make sure I get everything that I would need as I'm visiting the US next week and could order them. Thanks for all the help in advance.

KYB rear shocks HERE

Acura dealership have the both OEM front replacement ADS shocks on back order for my 11 MDX. Started getting a knocking noise over larger bumps and the tech found a torn boot on one front end-link (replaced both end-links on the front stabilizer bar). This fixed the knocking noise for about 7-10 days before it came back. They determined the knocking was from the shocks and I am still waiting after two weeks for them to come in. I am still under the basic warranty until Jan/15 or I would have considered the conversion to regular shocks.

The part description said electric adjustable MDX struts, but they weren't anything close to that.. just regular MDX struts. Sorry guys, I thought this was sport suspension salvation. Just dont think acura has released the suspension parts to anyone yet. :28:
That's what I thought... I am not aware of any aftermarket active struts for any other car brands either. The seems to only be able to make plain old struts.
