Resolved the the front ads light issue. Used 5.5ohm 10 watt and the lights went out. I guess there is more resistance in the front struts.
Hi campr/poser can you guys please clarify which are the correct resistors I need for the front/rear?

REAR - 1.5K ohm 10 Watt or is it 1.5 ohm 10 watt? The link you provided point to 1.5K not 1.5, there is a big difference.

FRONT - is it 5.5 ohms or 5.5K ohms? If its easier please share the link to the parts you ordered.

Thanks for the awesome information!!!! I have been waiting for someone to share come up with a working solution. I am planning to swap mine out this weekend want to make sure I buy the correct resistors before hands.

Does anybody have the part numbers for the replacement shocks both
front and rear. I have the ADS system, but would like to switch to the base shocks. Sounds like using the whole assembly on the front is the way to go. Thanks in Advance.

The stock part numbers I could find for the non-Sport ADS system below:

Front

006 51601-STX-A06 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. FR.
007 51602-STX-A06 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. FR.

Rear

008 51605-STX-A05 SHOCK ABSORBER UNIT, R. FR.
009 51606-STX-A05 SHOCK ABSORBER UNIT, L. FR.

***SOLUTION ALSO FOUND***

Went from ADS to OEM non-ADS shocks, all four corners.

I used 1 ohm 10 watt "cerment power wirewound" resistors from Radio Shack and there is no warning light in either Comfort nor Sport mode, even after extended amounts of driving. Works on all four shocks.

They are like the ones in this link, even though I found them in a local store:

10W1D0 1 Ohm Cermet Power Wirewound Resistor : Resistors | RadioShack.com

I just plugged them directly into the terminals and wrapped it all up in a gracious amount of electrical tape, and hid everything out of sight.

One warning if you live in the salt belt. The lower bolt on my driver's rear shock was so rusted in, that the threaded bolt mount broke off of the control arm when trying to remove the bolt. Then it was another nightmare just trying to remove it out of the rusted shock sleeve. That mount has to be welded back onto the control arm. Not much could have avoided that, but that's life around these parts!

Hello everyone! I just got done performing the conversion and the overall process went smooth. The replacement took me a total of 8 hrs (rusty bolts I had to deal with). The ADS warning light came on after driving 3-5 minutes. I had to stop and restart the vehicle to reset the warning light and never came on since.

I would like to thank everyone that had provided all the helpful information! I will be loading the photos of this project soon.. Photos will consist of OEM parts invoice and the work I performed.

Great job..!! Thanks for taking the time to post the complete information to all the forum MDX'ers. It sure is going to help whoever decides not to install the advance oem dampers.

So you just installed 2007 OEM standard shocks and they fit perfectly on all the 2007-2011 advance models with dynamic dampers?

Did you have to install any additional hardware to make them fit besides the securing bolts?

Yes, this was a direct replacement to all four corners with no added hardware. :29:

If my dampers go south again, I will probably go with this solution. Thanks for all of the info!

Hello everyone.
I also did it!
Once I did differently. Connected to the wires that are suitable for the ADS unit.

Did you resolve the issue?
Today redid what I did earlier.
Bought in the store 4 (4Ń…5$=20$) inductors Jantzen Round Coil with P-Core 24 AWG / 0.5 mm and 1.43 ohm resistor soldered them instead. If the ADS light does not appear again, I will do neat :)

Hey guys....I live in Toronto, Canada, where can I buy (2)FRONT Strut(whole assembly, NON ADS)?
Any aftermarket brand(Kyb, Monroe, etc)....direct links would be nice.
I did read every post, just in case i missed anything...does aftermarket need any other parts? I see the Acura standard is straight bolt on.

Please give prices, possibly a website or store.

I called an Acura dealer, and was quoted between $330-350 each. Fronts.
If someone can clarify how much they paid from a dealer in Canada.

MDX already at the shop, only an aftermarket strut was ordered and delivered(not full assembly)....original ADS springs are too huge for aftermarket strut. Reason needing to locate a full assembly.

Thanks.

But the site oemAcura only ships in the USA.

Do you ship outside the United States?
We no longer ship outside the 50 states. American Honda and Acura of North America restrict the sale of parts and accessories to the United States. Unfortunately, exclusions include US territories, such as Puerto Rico and Guam. Unless you are in one of the 50 states, we cannot ship an order to you.
