Not sure if this was covered...Does any tuner remove the electronic speed control?
There isnt a "True" Tuner out for our platform yet. Only thing we can get at the moment is a JB4 which "tricks" the ecu and other sensors to produce more boost, fuel, timing ect ect. Until someone cracks the ecu on the mdx type s which is apparently different from the TLX type S the speed limiter stays. I know the Ktuner on the TLX type S removes the speed limiter.

Lets keep this thing alive! Has anyone have any updates of parts coming out for the type s? Also Guys feel free to write to PRL, K Tuner or what ever aftermarket performance brand you like to keep the demand/interest up for our platform

Got a response from PRL re intercooler

Thanks for reaching out!

Sadly, at this time I do not have any news or updates on the start of production for this intercooler. I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience this may be! Check back soon for updates!

Have a great day!

Thats an absolute bummer! I wonder why the development on aftermarket parts for this platform in painfully slow

I sure hope not lol. The only "Tune" out right now for the type s is a JB4 and their claims are already at more than 50Hp + 40trq
What I suggest is that the gains are before and after the intake, but only on tuned vehicles, otherwise it just runs really lean with more air and makes less power correct? This is the case with another vehicle of mine, not sure if the Acura can compensate with that much more fuel, If it can disregard my comment as incorrect.

No car will run lean from a modified air intake unless you are fucking with the MAF if the car has one. Opening up the intake just reduces restriction, which doesnt benefit a stock engine because it is not drawing more air than the intake can handle (on modern cars)

Why have I never heard of HPS before. I’m very tempted to get this tho. They have some in stock available. Any advice from someone who has shopped with them before?
I dont like the open vents into the engine bay. They will increase intake noise heard by the driver, but will also increase IAT's at lower speeds.

On the GTI platform it has been shown in data that a drop in panel filter and upgraded hose performs better than open intakes that remove the isolation of the stock airbox.

Mine is shipping soon. I was with the first batch - contact them for when the next round will be shipping.
Installed the HPS intake last Wednesday. I've attached a few pics. I'll also attach the instructions and a link to the YouTube video. I did not disconnect the negative battery cable, but did make sure that it was in "sleep" mode before disconnecting the MAF sensor. The intake still uses the stock adapter/tube to the air inlet "scoop" under the hood. Windows up and normal driving, you can't even hear it. Heavy throttle/boost you can barely hear the turbo sucking - and a little sneeze when you let off quickly. With the window down and normal driving, same - can barely hear it. Now, with heavy throttle/boost you can hear it, but it sounds good! Kind of like the old Buick GN and GMC Syclone I had back in the day.

1000% agree with you Ian, I am just glad that something or anything is coming out for out platform. Hopefully like you said it will invited other vendors into our space and drive up competition on parts. When manufactures and vendors compete, its a plus to the consumers
