Revisiting this thread. I've had the Aliexpress Carplay module for over a year now and it's been great up until now.

When I first got the module, the car would automatically connect to Apple Carplay and display it on the Nav screen after starting the car. Now, I have to press and hold the Menu button each time the car restarts to change the input to the Carplay module. This seemed to have happened after the latest iPhone update. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Just wanted to provide an update on this. After factory resetting the Car Play module in the settings, and setting up Wireless Carplay again, it all seems to be working as it should now.

Basically... it works. 🤷‍♂️ As long as Apple continues to support "the big giant scrolly knob", we should be good-to-go. The only downside I've experienced now that I have a iPhone 15 w/ USB-C is that Wireless CarPlay has about 1-2 second lag between "Hey Siri!" and response. The wired connection is flakey, so I don't use it (I use a USB power injector to add some oomph while charging and not sure that is compatible).

Edit: The delay is a pain for skipping songs, Siri says "Huh?' because I'm not fast enough... but phone calls have that same 1-2s lag. While we don't speak on phones often these days, when you do... kinda unpleasant. Still wouldn't give it up, though!
couldn't you use a USB to USB-C adapter to make it wired again?

ok i installed this weekend the aliexpress navifans unit. A few issues, that i'm wondering if folks have experienced and know how to resolve:

1. Waze continously starts up, even when you close it from iphone. If you remove it from Carplay home screen, then if you turn dial to far left where the map is shown, then it activates waze to open again. Is there anyway around it automatically launching the navigation app all the time?

2. Carplay shows 2 options: lumicet and lumicet _xxCxx --- is that normal? Looks like it connected to lumicet

3. Is the USB plug only needed for wired carplay, and initial setup of the phones?

thanks in advance for the help here.

I installed mine on Saturday. So far everything is working as it should. I do not use wired Carplay but I do notice that the music will skip like a scratched up CD. The same thing when I am using Apple Maps, the navigation movement kinda skips, where you will see it moving, then it will freeze and then move again. I only noticed it today driving into work.

What year model is your MDX? Mine doesn’t have any of these issues. I would think this sounds like a CarPlay interference issue. I would ensure the CarPlay antenna is not obstructed or touching metal. Maybe try removing it from inside the dash just to test it and see if problem gets resolved. Also, related to a challenge I’m having with call/microphone clarity - which microphone did you plug in? The one that is attached to the main harness or the external microphone?

2014 SH-AWD with Tech

I plugged in the really long cable that attaches to the main harness. I don't use the speakers/mic when talking on the phone really. I typically have a BT headset with me.

1, For mine, nothing is continously starts up, for my unit, I love connecting with wire, and everytime the carplay is connected, it's waze or google map, or the mix screen where it shows map and spotify together.
2, I don't think it matters, as long as you can connect it with your phone.
3, if you connect it with bluetooth, there's no need to connect it with wire for initial set up, as soon as you connected the BT, everything should be up and running. The USB is only for mirroring and wired carplay/AA.

I don't have the same unit as yours, but below is the link for mine.

Everything should working smoothly.

If you have the tech model, the oem mic option is included in the main harness, otherwise, if you still want to use the oem mic, you will need to use the provided wire to connect the overhead control unit(where the moonroof control) to the main unit.

Thanks so much for all the helpful responses. I got mine working perfectly now. I'm pretty pleased with it. How are you liking yours? Your version looks like it has the 5GHz radio vs the 2.4 on mine. Curious how you feel on audio quality of the system. For me, it seems about the same as stock, maybe sliightly less but really not noticeable.

Regardless wire/wireless, it boots up super fast, like OEM., Audio is always the same because you technically you didn't upgrade the sound system.

I'm thinking about picking one of these units up for my 2016 MDX. I'm primarily interested in this so I can display Waze on my screen for longer drives. Can anyone tell me how you would enter an address into Waze using the controls? Do you need to use the dial to scroll through the keyboard to spell out an address? Alternatively are you able to still use the interface on your phone to enter the address in Waze while its connected to this system (which I'm imagine would probably be more convenient than using the dial)? Any insight/feedback would be appreciated before I pull the trigger

Has anyone figured out how to switch between phones easily? My wife is the primary on the Carplay, but when i connect it seems to then not auto connect hers anymore.
Wireless, I assume? And you're in the car together, or is she driving by herself?

Wired you just swap cables. Wireless mine will automatically connect every time. You have to go into... bluetooth -> select the device -> and toggle CarPlay, and that usually works. It's really sticky, and really really wants to connect to the wireless CarPlay phone.

The other alternative is to do the music SharePlay if it's just music... and just the music app. Doesn't look like it works with Spotify et al. Play music together in the car with iPhone

I reached out to the manufacturer of this CarPlay module, Limcet, to see if there were any software updates for the module. They provided me with the update files. I went ahead and updated my module. I haven't noticed any changes and everything still works as it should. Its always nice to be running the latest software.

I've uploaded the update files to Google Drive if anyone is interested. Extract update files in the ZIP folder to a Flash Drive formatted in FAT32.

Update File Link:

Please take note of your Hardware version and make sure it matches exactly as in the picture i've attached: 02-0006-06-00-00-80-00-00

I followed this Youtube tutorial to install the update:

You could connect your wifes as the primary phone for wireless carplay and then when you want to use it, just plug your phone into the usb (instead of connecting wirelessly). This is what we do with my wife’s mdx and it works well for our purposes, switching between phones has been trouble free.
