Question, so for now, do you only pair your phone to the new unit? If a call comes in, can you still answer it with the button on the steering wheel?
Also, does the backup camera still automatedly turn on when you shift to park?

Haven't tested incoming calls, never use the steering wheel, but I'll test tomorrow. To pair, you connect the USB cable to the unit (not car), and it asks if you want to use it for Carplay, and subsequently for Wireless Carplay. I'll go through the routine again and verify.

Hey Siri works, and the backup camera automatically comes on (stops or mutes music, which returns upon shifting)
Thank you for the verification, where did you place the mic? And when you said "Unlike the videos I've seen of the Grom units, there's no way to back-out of the installation", what does it mean? Thank you.

I just got finished installing the Ali express unit into my wife’s 2015 Mdx base. My unit came with an additional microphone harness that I’ve not seen mentioned on any of the previous posts. It connects in between the OE microphone and the OE microphone harness that is located where the sunroof controls are in the headliner. A 3.5 mm plug adapter that is about 9-10 ft long then plugs into the Ali express unit. This harness allows the use of the OE microphone when the 3.5 mm that is attached to the main harness isn’t working. I must say that the calls come in perfect and my voice sounds clear when making/receiving calls.

I tried the 3.5 mm on the main harness first and nobody could hear me when on calls.. I then tried the aftermarket mic that came with the unit as well. I set the box to aftermarket mic and calls were at best muffled and at worst had so much interference that I couldn’t be understood, especially when driving. I finally tried the separate mic harness with the box set to oem mic and calls were super clear. Hope this helps!
Which one did you get? Mind sharing the product link?

Here is the link. It’s the same unit that is linked in previous posts from the seller “Navifans” on Ali express. I believe that the mic harness (as described in my first post that hooks up to the oem mic where the sunroof controls are)might be a recent addition to the included items in the box.
I just got mine installed today, I was able to use the oem mic without going to hook up the sunroof control board mic connector.

That’s great! I believe that the base models need that mic harness, but tech and entertainment may be fine without it. I saw from a different post that you got a different model with 5.8 ghz Wi-Fi instead of the 2.4 ghz model. How do you like it?
I am not so sure if the model is making different wire, I was talking to the tech guy last night during the installation, he mentioned there's a connector from the OEM unit(The one I highlighted in blue), if it contains a red wire, that red wire is the OEM mic, I don't need to run the cable to connect the mic in the sunroof control unit.

2017 Tech Package here and installed the unit yesterday. Nice product and features, but having mic issues as others have described while using the phone. I can hear fine but others say I sound distant and mumbled.

Using the 3.5mm plug and main harness. Settings setup for aftermarket mic (selection OEM causes no one to be able to hear me). Also received the additional orange 9-10 foot mic cable with plug but haven’t gone that route yet as others reported they believe that is for the base model. Outside of taking the unit out and ensuring the 3.5mm plug is fully inserted (99% percent it is), any other suggestions?
Make sure you select OEM mic in the setting.

Has anyone had an issue where the screen just turns blank white when you turn it on? I just installed my unit and I can turn the unit on and off as expected using the menu button, but whenever I turn it on, the display just turns white.
I never experienced any of the black/white screens, maybe check the connections again?

ok i installed this weekend the aliexpress navifans unit. A few issues, that i'm wondering if folks have experienced and know how to resolve:

1. Waze continously starts up, even when you close it from iphone. If you remove it from Carplay home screen, then if you turn dial to far left where the map is shown, then it activates waze to open again. Is there anyway around it automatically launching the navigation app all the time?

2. Carplay shows 2 options: lumicet and lumicet _xxCxx --- is that normal? Looks like it connected to lumicet

3. Is the USB plug only needed for wired carplay, and initial setup of the phones?

thanks in advance for the help here.
1, For mine, nothing is continously starts up, for my unit, I love connecting with wire, and everytime the carplay is connected, it's waze or google map, or the mix screen where it shows map and spotify together.
2, I don't think it matters, as long as you can connect it with your phone.
3, if you connect it with bluetooth, there's no need to connect it with wire for initial set up, as soon as you connected the BT, everything should be up and running. The USB is only for mirroring and wired carplay/AA.

I don't have the same unit as yours, but below is the link for mine.

I installed mine on Saturday. So far everything is working as it should. I do not use wired Carplay but I do notice that the music will skip like a scratched up CD. The same thing when I am using Apple Maps, the navigation movement kinda skips, where you will see it moving, then it will freeze and then move again. I only noticed it today driving into work.
Everything should working smoothly.

What year model is your MDX? Mine doesn’t have any of these issues. I would think this sounds like a CarPlay interference issue. I would ensure the CarPlay antenna is not obstructed or touching metal. Maybe try removing it from inside the dash just to test it and see if problem gets resolved. Also, related to a challenge I’m having with call/microphone clarity - which microphone did you plug in? The one that is attached to the main harness or the external microphone?
If you have the tech model, the oem mic option is included in the main harness, otherwise, if you still want to use the oem mic, you will need to use the provided wire to connect the overhead control unit(where the moonroof control) to the main unit.

Thanks so much for all the helpful responses. I got mine working perfectly now. I'm pretty pleased with it. How are you liking yours? Your version looks like it has the 5GHz radio vs the 2.4 on mine. Curious how you feel on audio quality of the system. For me, it seems about the same as stock, maybe sliightly less but really not noticeable.
Regardless wire/wireless, it boots up super fast, like OEM., Audio is always the same because you technically you didn't upgrade the sound system.

Hi all, thanks for sharing all of your information - I found it helpful when installing the Limcet Navifans module from Aliexpress a couple of months back. One issue I am having is a power drain, as the module seems to always be powered on. When I walk past the vehicle in my driveway (while turned off) my iPhone connects to Carplay, and Limcet is visible in my list of available bluetooth connections. It is obviously not drawing much power, however, this is not my daily so after sitting for 3-4 days the battery dies and I have to jumpstart the car. I have a new battery as well so that should not be the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or know of a workaround? Perhaps there is a setting I am missing...? Thanks in advance!
You are not the only one, I ended up using wire to connect. I did confirm with the seller, he said the box will shut off after the engine is off, but nope, it's constantly draining power from the battery, and he's not able to provide a solution, so I decided to use wire.

I get some bad connection sometimes but it has alot to do my cell phone service as I can see the signal is very bad in certain areas. If it’s super bad for you, you can always use the hardwire CarPlay option with the usb cable.
Carplay uses bluetooth to connect to your phone, I don't think it has anything to do with the cell signal, I think the issue comes from where you place the module antenna.

Your CarPlay uses your cell phone for internet access. So when your cell phone sucks, it’s going to affect your CarPlay as well……..
You are right, I think I miss understand when you said "bad connection". When I was crossing the bridge, I barely have signal when I was at the middle of it, but the Carplay will not disconnect, it's just the music might got interrupted, so I assume bad cellular signal will not causing you disconnect from the Carplay, or maybe I am wrong.

Thanks for the update. Would you mind going into a little more detail about what you did? I am having trouble getting in touch with the seller, but sounds like that’s not much help anyway. Thanks!
I didn't attempt to fix it, I just take my phone off from the wireless connection list, and start using wire for connection.

I am having issues with trying to get Siri to wake up, tried long-hold on both the voice command and the phone button on the steering wheel but neither of those do anything on the module. Any ideas on how I can get Siri to wake up and listen to me ?

fwiw, "Ok Google" works just fine on AA, so my Mic setup is good.
Not sure which unit you got, but I can wake up Siri from just saying it or long press the button on the steering wheel. It works fine on my iphone 12 and iphone 15.
