Now that the 2025 MDX is out and has some good changes, what do you guys think of it? Anything that you guys like/don’t like? And which trim do you guys recommend? (SH-AWD)
That's a revelation. If and when I test drive a new 25, I will be sure to checkout that issue of poorly legible maps (Google Based maps). In my 22 MDX, the cars NAVI is sharp and easily legible. But when I engage AA and use Google maps it is less so.No adjustments.... other than minor changes which to be honest I can't tell the difference. The default is bright washed out during the day, dark black and blue/green at night. The map is essentially fixed and that's it. The text is tiny and impossible to see while driving...zoom in and the text doesn't change proportionally. All this may be OK on a phone a couple inches from your nose, but at arms length while negotiating the road is a distraction that may lead to an unfortunate event.
I really,. . really am disappointed about no SXM. Crutchfield has a tuner adapter. Which I have purchased but am still missing one of the components, the tuner. I mocked up what I have and it does interface with the OEM screen. Will update when I have the complete kit.Hi. We have a 2025 Advance on order. I was really disappointed to see Sirius XM satellite go away. We do 3 or 4 road trips a year where we are in the desert with no cellular about half of the time. Does anyone have an experience with installing an after market satellite radio in an MDX? Thanks!
Now that I have test driven a new 25 MDX and using the new Touch screen - it has giveen me Pause and a somewhat reversal of my opinion. LOL. Yes, the TS expands to full scren when AA is engaged (Acura updated the 25 RDX's Touch pad system to do that when in AAor CP mode!!), but I found (as raceparts posted elsewhere on a different thread) it was more difficult to read the Google Maps in Non - AA mode. Despite that the screen is more forward, I had to reach for the Home button to get to the various programs or settings. It has given me more Food for Thought about getting one and either just Buy My 22 MDX for $37K in February Including taxes. The dealer that i visted yesterday told me that on November 19, Acura will be offering a CPO prigram for leased Acura vehicles whereby, Financing for 3 years @1.99%, Vehicle with be Certified & Inspected, and I think Road Side Assistance is offered for the 3 year period for $1,000. Based on current Tier 1 credit rating Used Car loans are 6.9% to 7%. Presuming that I finance the entire Buyout @7% for 3 years, the differnce form 1.99% is about $65 per month. $65 X 36 months = $2680 - for that alone, it would be worth the $1000 fee.... If it's true. Why would Acura do this ? Because evidently, the amout of previously leased cars 2022 or earlier - are sitting on their lots not selling???I don't get what all the fuss is about the infotainment system on the 2022-2024 models. I picked mine up a few weeks ago, and within 20 minutes, I had it all figured out. Clearly, I'm either a tech wizard or the chosen one... No need to even summon a user manual from the dark arts. Interested to ride in someone’s 2025 to see their fingerbanged touch screen with hand prints all over their touchscreen, no thanks lol.
I would look into "selling" your lease to help keep some of that equity you estimated, I'm assuming based off similar sales, KBB etc.? I completed a lease through America Honda over the summer and almost simply returned it when I discovered the sale option. Simply put, I took it to another Honda dealer who offered to purchase at a price higher than my residual... walked away (Ubered actually) with the difference. Surprisingly, the dealer I had originally leased from did not include this possibilty when we discussed my lease end options so switching dealers worked for me. I believe this also works between Honda and Acura dealers for obviously Honda/Acura leases. Goodluck. It looks like you are True MDXer from the list of MDXs you have had. Good Luck with your New 25 Type S. I have a 22 MDX Advance for which I am extending my lease for 6 months until February 2025, paying $610 a month which reflects about a 3% lease rate according to my financial calculations. I only have 21K miles on the clock and the buyout in Feb will be $35,400 , My MDX has been Trouble Free. My "game Plan" (now anyway) is to consider buying the 22 MDX at that time or Opt for a new 25 MDX (either a A-Spec Advance or a Type S Advance) or other vehicle / Brand. At my age , 73 in Oct., I can use mostly RMDs (Required Minimum Distribution) from my Pension Moneys. Thanks to the IRS, that is required each year for retirees after reaching 73 years of age. When I recently brought my MDX in for service, the Dealer was all over me to Lease a New one. There was a Liquid Carbon / Orchid interior A-Spec Advance "winking" at me. But after finding out that the so-called "Equity" I thought I had in my MDX (est. by me at $6-7K) was dashed to a very small number of $1K and a $1K Loyalty Offer from Acura and add'l Cap costs / taxes / fees of about $5500 , a new lease payment approaching $800 a Month with 7K miles per year. No way! And this was as we were approaching the last day of the month (July) when the Dealers are The Hungriest. You listed a 2018 Sport Hybrid MDX as one you owned. Acura is remiss NOT to have retained that in their Redesign in 2022 MDXs. If that was available now in 2025, I would OPT for that as a No-Brainer.
The 22 MDX is a bit noisy but I do not notice Slow acceleration from a stop at all. What I do usually about 1X a month is Reset the ECU/TCM. I posted the procedure elsewhere on the forum. The ECU/TCU has a "learning" feature (the last 4 Infinitis and 2 MDXs) had it as well. Since I drive primarily locally in Suburbia, the car "learns" the manner of your driving. I saw a Reset trick on the Internet that goes like this: In Park, step on the gas 2X Without your foot on the brake, Hold your foot down on the gas to the floor for 30 seconds (I Mississippi, etc.) then release it. Then start the car normally. Then drive it pretty Hard (the actual quote on Line was Drive it Like You Stole It). The ECU/TCM Re-Learns and Resets. I notice the difference immediately. Then as I resettle into the older driving habits, I will reset it again in a month or so. I don't know if that is applicable to Type Ss.
The accelerator vibration was one of the things I noticed when I first drove a fourth gen loaner. I told my advisor who tried to convince me it was in my head! Thanks for confirming. I used to own a Crosstour so familiar with the Honda acceleration "flutter" lol!I think I wrote something in a different post. I like the car a lot. Touchscreen is infinitely better than the pad though having both (or a dial) closer to my right hand would have been ideal. I still feel a vibration on the accelerator when driving but I have only driven 100 miles so far. I drove my friend's 2024 MDX A-Spec and felt something similar so perhaps I am just too sensitive. Everything else is great so far.
I'm in the midst of doing something similar. Thx. My last 7 cars, I shopped 3 dealers each time, receiving different deals each time.I would look into "selling" your lease to help keep some of that equity you estimated, I'm assuming based off similar sales, KBB etc.? That is what I have come across... My original dealer for the 22 MDX says There is No Equity for mine with 22K MIles??? They have a different Buyout from Acura (the dealer "buyout") different from the customer. Mine is at $37,000 now after making 3 extension payments (they are reducing the buyout every month by about $500 of my $610 payment). The dealer buyout is $1500 less +/-. There are 22 MDXs on local lots with under 25K miles asking $42-$44K. I know They must make Money, on these trade transactions, but I figure bottom line I should have at least $3K Equity. Another dealer that consulted offered $1K Equity with the same explanation. And in the entire mix, I am wrestling with Trading Down to a 25 RDX, not really needing a 3 Row SUV even though I truly like my MDX. If Acura put that new Touch screen in the 25 RDX - the decision would have been easier. The RDX is quick, with precise handling, but a smaller TTIP screen, less roomy.I would look into "selling" your lease to help keep some of that equity you estimated, I'm assuming based off similar sales, KBB etc.? I would break it down to two actions:That is what I have come across... My original dealer for the 22 MDX says There is No Equity for mine with 22K MIles??? According to google's Android Automotive documentation, you can go to settings -> accessibility -> display -> font size. Does the 25 MDX have this option? No adjustments.... other than minor changes which to be honest I can't tell the difference. Where is the USB port you are going to use? I've considered it but I don't want random wires just out plugged into a port where I see it constantly.I really,. . really am disappointed about no SXM. Have it installed, ran power from the fuse box (unswitched) USB there is only one place in the center console. Its a plug so you could unplug to use another device. There are probably six power outlets! but only one USB going to look for a splitter but I don't know if this is possible from the radio standpoint. Would like to find some kind of antenna splitter as well. For now using a magnet antenna ( included)I really,. . really am disappointed about no SXM. Crutchfield has a tuner adapter. Imagine all these machinations to go thru to get what was so easy in the past ....a Sirius/XM radio unit and antenna at production. Come On Acura!!!
