2025 MDX - Thoughts?

No adjustments.... other than minor changes which to be honest I can't tell the difference. The default is bright washed out during the day, dark black and blue/green at night. The map is essentially fixed and that's it. The text is tiny and impossible to see while driving...zoom in and the text doesn't change proportionally. All this may be OK on a phone a couple inches from your nose, but at arms length while negotiating the road is a distraction that may lead to an unfortunate event.

Hi. We have a 2025 Advance on order. I was really disappointed to see Sirius XM satellite go away. We do 3 or 4 road trips a year where we are in the desert with no cellular about half of the time. Does anyone have an experience with installing an after market satellite radio in an MDX? Thanks!
I really,. . really am disappointed about no SXM. Crutchfield has a tuner adapter. Which I have purchased but am still missing one of the components, the tuner. I mocked up what I have and it does interface with the OEM screen. Will update when I have the complete kit.

Have it installed, ran power from the fuse box (unswitched) USB there is only one place in the center console. Its a plug so you could unplug to use another device. There are probably six power outlets! but only one USB going to look for a splitter but I don't know if this is possible from the radio standpoint. Would like to find some kind of antenna splitter as well. For now using a magnet antenna ( included)

I have posted on several occasions about the SXM issue. I live in the mountains and even AM/ FM is spotty. I installed a DYI tuner into the console (photos posted) in another thread. Works OK, not like a factory install but the stations and presets do appear on the OEM screen. And it works everywhere. BTW satelite everything is the future. Goodbye cell towers. XM is just before before its time.

My other gripe with my '25 MDX is the Google maps. Difficult to see when on country roads and about impossible when it goes black after dark. The zoom doesn't help much as the street names and route numbers don't zoom! Google maps on my phone is much better, but then again it is on the end of my nose rather than an arms length away.

Acura, why is there a Gmeter on the dash... promoting reckless driving? How about a compass for the driver?

as a follow up to my previous post regarding Sirus XM service I lodged a complaint with Acura they said too bad in not some many words. They have no plans to address this shortcoming.

I am frustrated beyond belief and I will not let this go until they figure out a work around.
I have been down this path, complaining to Corporate to the extent that the District Manager called me directly. They of course told me to stream SXM from my phone. Which for me doesn't work as I live in a remote area where cell phones seldom work. But there are city fokes who don't care because they live on the phone anyway.

I have posted a fix on one of the other discussions whereby you buy a tuner and route it into the OEM radio via the aux port located in the center console. It works! ... it's an SXM tuner that you tune from the main display. It's far from perfect, but it's a viable work around.

Here's an Android perspective; Apple should be similar but I'll let others chime in for that:

1. On your smartphone, search for Android Auto.
2. Once app launches, you should see options under "map" for default map appearance.

For reference, attached screenshots are from Android Auto version:
13.3.644654-release (133644654)

Smartphone:
Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G
Im not very smart anything, but I do know that the automotive versions of these apps are very basic compared to the android/apple phone versions. There is no SXM automotive version currently. You can download Spotify for example from the OEM display and IF you have an account you can stream music. Same with all the others.

The Google Map OEM version is also different than your phone, limited basic and featureless. I did find a reference in another post that turns the dark mode off.... a toggle switch next to your left knee. If you turn the brightness up on all of your dash... the map will stay bright at night. Probably too bright but dark is useless for old eyes.

Streaming is OK (doesn't work without reception) but I still prefer punching a button on the dash (holding a device is illegal in many states). Choosing live weather, sports, and news as opposed to copied music is my preference. I have a 2025 with an add on receiver that works through the OEM selection.... but my 2018 MDX with the factory system was much better.

Problem is you need a cell phome that works. Not in the mountains where I live. SXM works like Star Link. Plus you have 300+ stations not just an album like spotify ( and live news, sports and even Fox live TV .- audio)

I miss my '18 MDX. The only thing good about the '25 in my opinion is the transmission. Smoother. Absolutely dislike the Pad in the dash. The entertainment system is non existant, horrible to use! My wife just cannot figure out how to use the selections, screams at the dash trying to use her cell phone to stream music. Sitting in the driveway fiddling with her phone when she wants to get going. This whole idea of bring your own music is crap.

Sorry, Pandora is not in CarPlay. besides there are many other streams that are just as good as SXM.
SXM is not a stream. Does not depend on cell phone coverage. SXM is a collection of about 300 stations with live coverage of sports, weather, talk and music of every category. Choice and uninterupted programming, not some canned music loop.

Problem with your theory is that streaming music is the same as SXM. It's not. First issue you need a cell phone or recorded materials to stream. Personally I don't have the desire to record and supply my own music. Having a multitude of stations with many choices of programming, live broadcasts; like sports.... is more desirable than playing a song list over and over. The big issue is that Acura did not introduce new technology. They took a step backwards. The cheap "notebook" stuck in the dash is far from being user friendly. The dealer lied about it being completely functional for entertainment. The Google map is barely usable, driving one handed and watching the screen will find a ditch sooner than a location. Bottom line is my '25 MDX is aggravating to drive and I still have a couple years on the lease. Hopefully Acura will wake up and fix it next year so I can try to flip mine for a new one.
