Now that the 2025 MDX is out and has some good changes, what do you guys think of it? Anything that you guys like/don’t like? And which trim do you guys recommend? (SH-AWD)
I’m not a fan of the touch interface but I’m also happy with our ‘24 because (probably the minority here) I like the ELS system better than the B & OWe’re glad that we bought the ’24 MDX Advance model. I prefer the touchpad interface and the SXM app.
Coincidentally, mine doesn’t have a working cigarette lighter or ash tray either! Talk about a step back in time!!! 🤣🤣🤣The person might not regret it - I consider XM a step back in time and inferior to the plethora of free streaming music/audio sources. It really comes down to an individual's preferences - some people obviously like it and are willing to subscribe to it but others don't find it appealing enough to subscribe to it.
The important point is that people need to be aware when they buy a vehicle that native XM capability may or may not be included in the vehicle and use that data as a factor in whether to buy the particular vehicle or not. One can't assume the old tech that was in their last vehicle will be in the new vehicle - for example, my vehicle doesn't have a cassette player built-in like some prior vehicles of mine had.
I consider that a good thing. No way to leave the phone behind anymore. That's an Excellent point. No Phone, no Sirius.
At least Acura has provided a dual USB port hub - both a USB-A and a USB-C in front console. Although being a bit ashamed to admit it, I am able to use the USB A port to plug in my charger for JUUL vape device. Although cigarette smoking is totally off topic, belonging in a Thread onto itself, it has been replaced with Vaping and probably worse, Legal Pot Smoking. Unfortunately, as a old retire Cop in VA told me one day, Nicotine is the strongest drup to mankind. Worse than Crack, because you do it all day long, every day.Coincidentally, mine doesn’t have a working cigarette lighter or ash tray either! Talk about a step back in time!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, You are Right! If I leave my Phone home (or worse at a place just visited), a sense of "panic" evolves !!I consider that a good thing. No way to leave the phone behind anymore.
Yep, it is like driving down the highway and all of a sudden realizing you are not wearing your seatbelt! When I ran my company and forgot my phone, I immediately wanted to call my office manager to let her know I do not have my phone! Of course she already knew as she could hear it ringing on my desk!Yeah, You are Right! If I leave my Phone home (or worse at a place just visited), a sense of "panic" evolves !!
The Early Bird Gets The Worm!! LOL> Being retired since May 2021 (after some long years of suffering with Spinal Maladies (too numerous to list) at 70 YO (that Oct) ), I'm up early everyday. I guess this exchange actually belongs in a Off Topic Thread. After 48 years of working in the Financial Industry (Real Estate Finance) with Banks & Asset Management firms, handling real estate appraising / analysis , New Mortgage Loan Originations, and during periods of recessions, Loan Workouts/Delinquencies, I finally Hit The Wall in the fall of 2020. I HATED working from Home during the COVID Shut down with no interrelations with real people - not Zoom calls, Emails, tetxts, etc to get work Done.Yep, it is like driving down the highway and all of a sudden realizing you are not wearing your seatbelt! You are an early bird for sure! Cell phones have changed everyone's way of life.
Don't Forget to log in your displeasure like many of us have! Send an email via their Web Site or use Acura Link (if you still have it engaged) to do it. If enough MDX owners protest , they just may pay attention ! So far, they respond by ascribing a Case Number with No resolve. Just excuses . Not even an alternative or aftermarket recommendation.I must one of the few that absolutely loves the touch pad . I took the time to learn the muscle memory to use it. Much safer than reaching for a screen ! Honda has great ideas but not much customer interaction. I prefer to have the SXM built into the car and not depend on my phone.
I am a loyal Acura customer since 2005 because they have what I want . SXM is what I listen to 100 percent of the time . I Have been with Xm before it merged with Sirius and become SXM.
Are you listening Acura ?
Never had the touchpad and don’t care for SXM. Using the 3 moth app trial and will cancel and use the Amazon Music, Pandora and other free options that are just as good. Love the touch screen and all the features of the 2025. Glad I waited for the 2025.We’re glad that we bought the ’24 MDX Advance model. I prefer the touchpad interface and the SXM app.
Sorry, Pandora is not in CarPlay. besides there are many other streams that are just as good as SXM.May I ask, How you got Pandora on the Car's system? I have Pandora via AA , but have not been able to download via Google Play Pandora onto the MDX's system - I do have TIDAL, and Spotify, but can't get Pandora ?
There are streams just as good as SXM. The problem is I use T-Moblie and can’t catch a signal driving through the mountains and many rural areas out west. Same with the GPS. I’m glad I grabbed a 2024 MDX.Sorry, Pandora is not in CarPlay. besides there are many other streams that are just as good as SXM.
SXM is not a stream. Does not depend on cell phone coverage. SXM is a collection of about 300 stations with live coverage of sports, weather, talk and music of every category. Choice and uninterupted programming, not some canned music loop.Sorry, Pandora is not in CarPlay. besides there are many other streams that are just as good as SXM.
Pandora is gone too? Is Spotify in there?Sorry, Pandora is not in CarPlay. besides there are many other streams that are just as good as SXM.
I agree that it has got to be one of the worst decisions in the history of Honda. I predict elimination of the Sirius XM radio will severely negatively impact future sales. The folks in Honda service at Corporate really cannot offer insight as to why the decision was made. I guess it saves. $300-400 in manufacturing cost but - the worst part is that dealers do not have any solutions- even if customers are willing to pay for a new radio and antenna- they say it cannot be done (at least that is what my service rep said). I am stuck for next 33 months - but after 20 years 9 new Acura vehicles) will have to leave Acura For a brand that offers SXM.I just picked up my new 2025 MDX and I love the car with one exception...They took away my Sirius Radio interface. The phone app is poor at best with frequent lapses. I just can't figure out why in a $60,000 automobile they would make a bone headed decision like this...There is probably an easy way for Acura to add an app and booster antenna to the car to make it Sirius enabled, why they havent done it is beyond me...
i agree with you. My MDX is just a year old but in 4 - 5 years we’ll probably check out the competition.I agree that it has got to be one of the worst decisions in the history of Honda. Yes, Spotify is available, so is TIDAL, Amazon Music....You need to Download the Apps via Google Play on the car's system. Once you do, You can select what you want (or use Hey Google, or Alexa [if you prefer - which requires a form of Mobile WiFi either via Mobile AT&T account or Phone tethering], and play what you select.Pandora is gone too? Is Spotify in there?
Don't forget to send Regular complaints to Acura via Acura Links or their web site about How Perturbed you are by this Ommission. The More The Merrier. I do , sent 3 or 4 emails and will continue to do so. They need to know how we feel Skunked by this move.I agree that it has got to be one of the worst decisions in the history of Honda.
