15.1 MPG over the first 2,000 miles. Live up a good sized hill and most of the driving is surface streets. Sport mode all the time To avoid Idle Stop. TLX Type-S is 15.3 over first 10,000 miles. Same driving and mode For both cars.

I only brought it up because the folks here bought a SUV with more HP and considerable less MPG and then are interested in mileage. It’s like going to a forum on a high performance corvette and seeing a thread on MPG. I just think its funny. Just my opinion.
lol...it is funny I'm on a Vette forum and they do have MPG threads

Hadn't seen this, never knew how drastically different ths fuel consumption was between idle and startup.

Maybe I'll start leaving start/stop on and see if mpg improves.
They show a 4-7% increase in MPG with the start/stop system. That would equate to 1-2mpg for MDX drivers. Not sure if it's worth it, but maybe to some.

When you say worth it what do you consider the "price"? The annoyance of the system?

I've been toying around with it and while I cant say I have measured any MPG increase, I have learned better how to force the engine to stop or not to stop using specific brake pedal modulation.

IMO if you can be sure exactly when the engine will shut down, and stop it from shutting down by driving with it on, it becomes far less annoying. I HATE when it cuts the engine for a second or two, but that seems to be avoidable if you pay attention.

I do like the idea that if the engine shuts down for more than 9 seconds at a red light, that I am objectively saving fuel.

I heard 7 secs in the video, where is the 9 coming from?

Just tripped from Boston to Virginia in the Type S, about 450 Miles. 24.2 on average and got it as high as 24.8 until i hit Baltimore and DC.

My MDX A-Spec in the same trip could get about 25.5 and as high as I saw it was 26.2.

23.5 not bad, never reached 24 mpg. Average highway speed around 75mph across rolling hills through Pennsylvania and Maryland. Considering 21mpg is advertised I am satisfied. As you can see, just surpassed 1000 miles total. This was using 89 octane. Will try 91 on return trip to evaluate any difference in performance.

I have been averaging 18-19 mpg in the city, sometimes a little over 19, and then about 22-23 mpg on the highway. I’ve mainly been getting between 290-300 miles of range on one tank mixed driving, which is silly in my opinion, although it has a small fuel tank at 18.5 gallons for a three row. I mainly use 93.

my results are identical to 24typesadv stated above. 10-14 does not seem right. extensive and consistant idling in traffic may result in 10-14 mpg. Or the opposite, super aggressive driving will result in poor mpg. If neither apply see your dealer.

my wife drives the car during the weekdays. zero spirited driving and barely any idling. she does use the remote start in the morning to get it warm inside to take kids to school but that wouldn't result in 10-14 MPG. with a full tank, my range is under 200 miles per gallon...

what would the dealer need to do to fix this issue? is it something wrong with the computer and just needs a hard reset?

Any updates on pure highway mileage? Say, 70-80mph cruise control the whole time.

While in the process of shopping for a Type S I had some professional changes that will double my yearly mileage, all highway miles. Fuel economy/operating cost will become more important to me than it previously was and want to make sure it’s still a good fit.

Running costs of the car maintenance wise are pretty good.

The fuel economy is pure trash.

Depending on the specifics of your commute I would be looking at electric/plugin/higher efficiency options.
