Mine does the same. I suppose some velcro on the back may help it, but really it hasn't bothered me as much as I thought it would. I just push it forward when I notice it.

 

Needs the spiky velcro in some spots on the underside. I've been meaning to do mine too. Might be able to try this morning.

 

I had the same issue with my 2nd Gen 11 MDX and purchased the 3D Maxpider tri-fold cargo mat with velcro on the back side. Zero issues with it sliding. I don't know if the website has updated its products for +22 MDX and Type-S versions?

My 19 MDX came with an OEM cargo mat and it also slides around too much. I added a flat universal cargo net with Carabiners for easy clip on/off. Adding the Carabiners really helped keep the OEM mat in place.

Same thing here. Minor nuisance but, agree a couple pieces of velcro hook material in the carpet area should do the trick. I'm going to do the same due to this prompt. So, thanks.

 

I used 4 2in squares of the spiky velcro side, 2 at each side of the back and 2 in the middle of the mat at the sides. Doesn't move at all anymore. Might add some more squares to the back edge so that I can use the mat to lift the cargo tray.

One slight problem with the way I did it is its kinda hard to reach the latch handle, but I may just tape the latch piece so that it cant latch anymore, doesnt seem to be a necessary retainer.

That's interesting. I have the hard plastic side up under the cargo cover just in case something spilled, or whatever, but, your idea to use the cover to lift the tray might be a good one. The gen 1 had a cargo area as well. It was hinged (non removable, one-sided) and you could open it and leave it up while digging around in there. It sort of bugs me that the cover won't stay open. This could be a solution.

Ugh I need to secure mine also. It's super annoying lol. But I like to fold that part back pretty often to lower the front compartment for groceries.

 

You could put the velcro just in a line just in front of the underfloor storage, would work fine.

on autoanything at $109 and it fits perfectly and attaches with velcro to the back area and to the back of the second row seat, and loops to the headrests also. haven't cut it out yet, but really dont need the third row right now. Had 3D front mats in another car for years and they worked great.But OP, they do sell some velcro strips that you can buy to secure your current mats

All over amazon.....any heavy duty velcro will work, your only going to use the half that will stick to the carpet

 

Are we just taking about the normal Velcro with the hard plastic spike side? And use that part under the mat so it lays on the carpet?

Ok it is the normal Velcro. For some reason I thought there was a more spiky Velcro to use. 😇

 

Velcro has a "hook" side and a "loop" side. The hook side is the harder plastic "spiky" side that IanCH referred to initially. This is what you need. The "loop" side is soft and fuzzy. You don't want that as it won't stick in the carpet. If in doubt, take a pair of mated Velcro strips and push both sides into your carpet. You will know immediately which one is the hook side you need.

 

I added adhesive-backed hook strips (as opposed to loop) to the bottom of the tri-fold mat back in 2015 when my 2016 was new. It definitely stopped any movement of the mat (which had been quite significant). The downside is that the hooks seem to grip the carpet better than the adhesive grips the rubber mat, so pulling up the mat usually leaves the strips on the carpet. No big deal, but if I were doing it over again I would definitely be certain that it was genuine 3M Velcro and not a knock-off, because 3M makes great adhesives.

I did the same a year ago, still moves around some when moving heavy things in and out but not enough to annoy me.

 

Tried that too by just lifting those anchor brackets. Still slides for some reason. I did velcro under the mat and works like a charm now

 

I guess nothing is permanent. The mat will still shift around a bit regardless of how it’s stuck down. Especially when trying to slide in heavy loads of items. Not even Velcro is going to hold down that mat 😭

 

Well, I can assure that there is some amount of velcro that will hold the mat down, But I wouldnt suggest it.

I alwyas found the main annoyance to be that it moved when nothing was back there, so it is always out of place. In the end its just a very shitty trunk mat lol... It was already in the car when I bought it so I wasnt going to protest to have it removed. The floor mats it comes with are legit.

I had this brand: Acura MDX (2021-Current)

trunk mat for my Golf R, it was thick heavy rubber and I'm not aware of any manufacturers who make a comparable product. It says not yet available, but it does look like they might make one.

I put an inquiry in at their site, I'm sure if other put one in it would help in getting them to make one.

 

Yeah I only put about 6 pieces only in 2” squares. It holds the mat good enough. I love the type s logo on the trunk mat so I’d probably keep this one.

Just happy my trunk mat didn’t move with the Velcro! 6-7 hours of driving on a road trip loaded with toddler stuff and a stroller. No movement !

 

Do you guys just put this in the garage whenever you've got the 3rd row seats up? I got a cargo tray for free with my Pilot (same thing you are talking about here) and it's sort of an awkward piece. Doesn't seem like something you keep in the car unless you routinely drive around with the 3rd row folded down (because when it is folded in 3 pieces it is floppy and silly looking in the trunk). That said, the back of my 3rd row seats are carpet and I guess for times when you want to load in cargo, this would certainly avoid tearing them all up where it then looks like crap on the backs of the 3rd row seats when the seats are up and you open the trunk.
