As someone who owned a Black Currant Pearl Accord back in the day, I am glad that Honda/Acura is revisiting the purple color palette. This video makes it look basically black tho, assuming they did not label it wrong:

I looked at a Phantom Violet Pearl TLX while shopping for my '21. It does look black most of the time with the purple becoming apparent only at certain angles/lighting. It's quite attractive when it shows. I bought a Majestic Black Pearl TLX, but I would have bought the Violet had it been equipped with the Advance package.

They should have literally put the word Black or Dark as the first word for that paint name, like the Black Copper Pearl on the 17 and 18 MDX.

Saw it in the flesh/metal recently. Fortunately, they had it parked right next to a Majestic Black Pearl so it was easy to see the difference. It basically looked black, just not as pitch/jet black dark.

If the light hits it just right, then there was some violet glitter action going on. I like the color and will definitely consider it.

Attached are pics; the Phantom Violet Pearl is on the left.

Interesting view of that color. Considering the very limited color choices the MDX has, I am puzzled as to why Acura would offer two barely distinguishable shades of black. I first saw the color on the TLX and only realized it wasn't black when I looked on the sticker. Perhaps a good, adult red could be offered in addition to that garish orange? For me, I was left with a choice of white, blue, black or grey each with interior colors that didn't grab me. Ended up with Carbon steel with the black interior. Still wish I could have had a Mayan Bronze Metallic with a Cream interior like my 2012 TL. People still complement me when they walk by it.

I looked at a car on the lot with that color and it looked very black in the overcast light. They had another one in showroom that looked faintly purple at some angles under the light. Were it to be a vivid purple I'd have considered buying it but in most lights it seems almost black.

Exterior Colors of cars is very Subjective obviously. I saw only 1 Phantom Violet MDX on a dealer lot last year while shopping for my MDX (Fathom Blue Pearl). Never seen one on the road. As jefferson88 said, the color does vary by light and viewing angle and bc of that, it is a Phantom... I guess Acura tries to label their color names very specifically. For Example, my Fathom Blue Pearl "behaves" very similarly, it looks almost like the Fathoms of the Sea. In some light a deeper Blue Black, and then in other light / angle, it looks more Blue. I love it especially with the Gray Leather Interior.

Not sure how reliable this is but a salesperson just told me that this color is discontinued after this year. More than likely buying a new ride soon so depending on what the 2025 refresh looks like, may just get a Phantom Violet Pearl 24.

I really want red but the Advance only comes in parchment interior (not for me). The A-Spec comes w/ black interior but no advance package. Meaning my only option is the Type S but not sure I want to spend an extra $10k for stuff I do not really care to have & 19mpg. Acura has a way of not offering the combos I want lol

If only they would bring the Sport Hybrid w/ the MMC. My 2017 is a great vehicle.

Looked at the TX & was not impressed but may stray towards a GLE ...

They discontinued it on the ‘23 TLX mid-year. It’s just not a popular color. Which is a shame, because it is pretty darn cool when the light hits it just right.

I’m not sure what Acura’s strategy is with exterior and interior combos is right now. The ‘24 TLX offerings make you scratch your head
