There was 1 post with similar symptoms as mine but it went dead in 2019.
02 MDX
134000 miles
Coolant fresh and burped
new thermostat 170 degrees
no leaks
Thermostat gauge will rise and hits the red. AC off or on. If the AC is on the AC will not blow cool if the gauge reaches the upper hot levels. The fan on the driver side turns on when the engine is off but never when it runs. I placed a laser thermostat to the engine in 4 areas, after driving for 45 minutes and the fan on with the engine off.
Radiator cap 99 degrees
Upper radiator hose 112 degrees
Engine block belt side 156 degrees
Thermostat housings 158 degrees
The temperature never surpasses 170 degrees, so it’s uncertain why the tempe gauges rises and the fan turning onwhen I shut the vehicle off. The fan does not turn on after the vehicle is shut off after driving every time. But the temp. gauge would rise.
Any ideas? I haven’t replaced the radiator cap but I don’t see that the problem since the actual fluid temperature is never beyond the boiling point.
