Hey sorry for the late as reply but the radio soon started working after this post. But ofc it went out again. The issue arises today when I was troubleshooting and trying to fix it. The sound will cut off then the cd changer will go off shuffling around I’m presuming. Is there a fix to this? As of right now the “fix” is holding the 1-6 then power button it turns back on but I’m afraid eventually it’ll stop working. Btw i do have a interlock in the car maybe that’s messing with some electrical stuff idk.

My 08 does the same thing. Started last year I believe but can’t remember because I don’t drive it often.
My radio does not produce audio and it sounds like the cd changer is shuffling and the radio display flickers off and on.
I ignored it at first because it presented itself as a battery issue. Because it sits for weeks sometimes a month or more and when I drove it a short distance normal audio function would resume so I assumed a battery low voltage issue.

I troubleshot a tiny bit Sat and I have a comm lost error between the nav unit and my radio that is constant when I clear the codes, cycling the ignition returns the code.
When I go in to read the codes on the HIP module or select the module, audio returns after a short period which I would consider to be a CAN-B communication issue.

I can’t remember the actual code or the bus nomenclature but I was looking at the audio unit wiring diagram to determine if it is the radio or the amp.

It is a weird problem because before my radio would beep as though it was attempting to boot up but would not and you would hear the cd changer sound like it was trying to load a disc and after a couple of minutes radio would boot and audio would return, now audio does not return unless i take a long ride on the interstate and it usually takes 20-30 minutes before audio returns.

Strange thing is once audio starts if key is cycled the whole boot up no audio sequence starts again.

Very weird but I will eventually fully troubleshoot it or replace the sound system but I currently don’t have time to do either. Lol

Yea weird issue. Gonna see if the radio only turned on after troubleshooting it for probably half an hour. Gonna attempt the 1-6 right away if no audio. You should also try to see if that does anything I’m curious.

Also would you know how to trouble shoot my nav system. It would work when it wanted ever since I drove it off the lot. Tried checking the DVD under the seat one day, hit open, but never got it opened and haven’t had my nav system on for a while now. also the the display where the volume bar is isn’t working for some reason but it does show when the fan is on. This cars great but it’s been such a headache lately lol.

First, check the volume on both the car's audio system and the connected device. Then, try using a different aux cable and check if the problem is resolved. If the problem persists, try connecting another audio device to see if the problem is with the device. If there are no results, it may be necessary to contact a car audio specialist for a more detailed error check.

I switch between aux and FM as well. Mine will shuffle the disc changer and lighting will flicker off/on the entire time until it finally powers on.
Strangely mine will power on in the summer months when I am on the highway for about 15-20 minutes but when the temps drop it never fully turns on.
I drove for about 2.5 during Christmas with temps in the 30’s before it finally popped on. I had it on aux so it was making the weird noises it makes when you are on aux without being connected. We have a Rickwood Radio in the area and they are known for repairing OEM radios but I just don’t trust the work of others anymore.. sad but I see way too much when it comes to technical knowledge and ability.

It appears that this issue may be related to the settings or connection of your vehicle's AUX port. You can try to check if the AUX cable has a problem or check the volume settings on the car remote. If the problem continues, it may be necessary to have the vehicle's audio system inspected to determine the exact cause.

Finally got around to troubleshooting my delayed sound issue after dropping $50 for an eval at a local oem radio repair facility. They told me to bring in the radio only then a few days later they told me they needed the car for further troubleshooting. Took the car and they tell me radio has to be sent off to the manufacturer for repair and my final cost would be between $658-$820!

That was 2.5 weeks ago and tonight I finally took the radio apart to see if I noticed anything obvious. I did not, so I looked at what was connected to all the harnesses and I removed them one at a time and retested. Finally removed the B connector, output from the radio to connector A, input to the amp and my radio stopped flickering, display went back to normal so I reconnected the B connector to the back of the radio and the A connector (amp inputs) and then disconnected the B connector (amp output) and same result. Took my amp apart and saw no heat sink compound on the IC amp chips and the screws that secure the chip hold down rail to the aluminum body were not very secure.

Thought it might be my voltage regulator on the amp since my audio would not come on immediately but only after riding for a few miles on the highway but it checked good. I may replace it any way since it is original.
Checked the two four channel IC amp chips and noticed small blow holes in some of the solder joints so I’ll be replacing the IC amp chips at some point and adding thermal paste to them.

I also plan to ohm out all my connected speakers at the amp output connector to be sure I don’t have any impedance issues. I am choosing this route because all the eBay amps look like they have gotten wet, have been out in the elements for too long or the prices are not what I am willing to pay!
I bought an amp from the local u-pull-it a month ago but I cannot remember if it was the part number that I needed. I returned it because it looked crappy and just beeped constantly after I installed it.

I will be tracing down which speaker circuits have the blow holes in the, the IC’s do not show signs of failure on the chip itself but the blow holes tell the story. I have driven the system pretty hard since I’ve had the X even though I only drive it once or twice a month.

I attached pics of the blow holes that I took with my loupe, hopefully they are clear enough to see.

Hope this helps anyone else that may be having this issue!
