MDXers'
I was curious if anyone has installed any type of ODB port protection or other type of theft protection on their MDX?
Reports so far seem to indicate most theives will lockpick/shim/force the door open, connect to the ODB port, get the car running and GTFO in less than a minute. There's also the replay attacks but those are less common in my area.
I'm less interested in tracking the vehicle with something such as a LowJack than I am in slowing them down long enough during the actual theft where their personal risk level get too high and they just move on. There's been an increase in thefts from public spaces as well so "just part it in the garage" is not a solution.
I'm worried about warranty issues if I go the kill switch route.
I do like the idea of this type product:
And yes, I know that if they really want it they will do whatever they need to get it. I've heard of some of them being able to use the easily viewable VIN to clone keys, etc.
Thoughts about the whole subject?
