Map updates should be free for 3 yrs, at least they are for my vin

 

I just called Acura and they said the latest update was: 2023.01.03. I also found out the computer screen said: If your subscription has expired and NOT: Your Subscription has expired.
They also said the map updates are free for 3 years. I was then able to see mine expires on: 2024.07.25

 

I just received an email from Acura saying an update was available. As others have said, free for initial 3 years.

 

Has anyone actually downloaded and installed a nav update? I tried but finally gave up

 

I've done about 3 of them. sometimes the download from the site is painfully slow.

 

yes, this is my 4th having skipped 2022.10.04. Super pita but this one seemed to be faster than all the others for me, at least seemed that way.

They really need to improve map updates to use wifi overnight...

Attach your usb and go for a 40min drive and don't miss the 3 second pop-up telling you it is complete or you'll just be roaming around.

 

Just downloaded the latest update. It's 2023.01.03. I wonder why they wait until April to send out email notifications for an update? So bizarre. Also, the download took 1hr 40min. Seems absurd but maybe since they just sent out the email notice, lots of people are pulling down the update. My previous version was 2022.10.04. I had already forgotten the arcane process. It's amazing this isn't more refined. My small company's revenue would be rounding error on Honda's profit. Updating our systems is vastly more elegant. Seriously, this is the best they can do to get customers vehicles updated? Sad really.

 

I live in Canada and I have never received an email from Acura regarding the availability of a Navigation Update. I just keep an eye out here or check the Nav Update website every few months.

 

And, one more gripe. The instructions to install the update into the vehicle are in a .pdf that is 4 pages long. The English instructions would fit on a single page but, there are links for French pg2 and Espanol pg 3 before the English version then a couple more pages in French and Spanish. Just wow Acura.

 

I just installed the latest navigation system update in my wifes 23 MDX. The download to the flash drive took about an hour, then took about an hour or less to install using the data port in the console.

 

i just bought a 2024 tried downloading maps, it keeps saying i need to install the downloader, i have done that on two different browsers and no luck at all, the downloader installed every time. This frustrating back to the dealer I guess.

 

Once you install the downloader, you need to open it from your start menu as a stanalone program, and it will proceed to download and install to USB.

 

TheUpdates are ALWAYS 1 Year behind the current year. So if your version reads 2023, even thought ir is Now “2025” if you update you will ONLY get rhe 2024 version. It will NOT change until the middle to the end of Jan. 2026 to the 2025 version.
This is NOT mentioned, and is a deliberate effort at misinformation on the Acura site!
