Massage seat issue - 25 Type S

I've been experiencing some issues with the driver's seat massage on my 25 Type S. Essentially the massage stops after a period of time, despite the lights on the button remaining lit. It happens quicker if using the highest intensity - it usually completes one cycle, then fails on any additional attempts. If using the middle intensity, it may complete a couple of cycles, then fails after that. I've actually taken a few long trips in the car and not having the seat massage work consistently has been disappointing.

I brought my car in for scheduled maintenance today and mentioned the issue to them. I fully expected to get a "could not replicate" answer, but it looks like a code of some kind was stored related to a seat air pump failure. They have ordered the part - apparently there's only one available at the moment. We'll see if they can get the part and get this fixed. I've had good luck with massage seats in my last couple of cars, a 2015 Audi A8 and a 2019 RR Sport - though my wife has had repeated problems with it in her 2022 RR. One of the main reasons I got the Type S was the seat massage. Hopefully it's not a recurring issue.

I had a similar issue in my 2022 within 1-2 months of ownership, all lights on, but the massage worked only for a hot second. Dealer had to replace the controller or whatever unit is buried deep in the driver's seat—no issues since then.
Felt almost like it was DOA from the factory.

Can you ask your service advisor if failures in the massage seats are common? It will interesting to see if we can get even more reports on the seat massagers. The seats in type S and ADv Aspec are the same.

I hope it’s an anomaly and not a trend. I went Acura over BMW as research shows it’s more reliable and I read a lot about massage seat failures in BMW with pumps, bladders, and control modules. . Maybe I’ll have to consider an extended warranty after all.

I'll ask them when I go back for the repair.
