Here is a way to get rid of that ADS error light after you place non-ADS shocks/struts without needing to get dirty. clean set up. I've had this 4months now no issues, keep it in comfort mode as sport will trigger it back on. Very hard stopping may also trigger error light. Simply turn MDX on and off in comfort mode to correct. I'm gonna keep this as simple as possible....
Total time: 1.5-2 hours
You'll need:
-For front: TWO 5ohms 5% 10watt / Wirewound Resistors (from Mouser.ca: 71-CP00105R000JE143, MFG Part No: CP00105R000JE143)
-For rear: TWO 2ohms 10% 10watt / Wirewound Resistors (from Mouser.ca: 71-CP00102R000KE14, MFG Part No: CP00102R000KE14)
-Electrical tape
-Electrical Solder (just to ensure wires are connected nicely to resistors)
-Solder gun or small mini-torch
-Electrical wire
-Wire splice T-Tap connector set form amazon: BTSKY 120pcs T-Tap Wire Splice Connectors Tap Quick Splice Self-Stripping Nylon Fully Insulated Electrical Terminal Crimp Kits: Amazon.ca: Industrial & Scientific
-Heat shrink tubing if you want... you could also use electrical tape instead I assume: Striveday™ 180pcs of assorted heat shrink tubing in 4 colors and 8 sizes Tubing Wrap Sleeve Set Combo Assorted heat shrink tube Kit for DIY: Amazon.ca: Tools & Home Improvement
NOTE: I did not remove the battery connector under hood and no issues.
NOTES: start with Step 2 so installation is very quick.
Step 1: Expose and splice wires.
Open trunk, remove the storage cover, remove car jack cover, remove the storage lining to expose the ADS module on the left side. Remove the 3 bolts holding the ADS module and pull it out slightly, unplug the big connector, peel back the black sheath to expose the wires. place the red male splices (red was best size) into the eight wires listed below. ensure you place them tightly to ensure good contact with the wire...you'll need plyers.
Which wires do you place the splicers on if any wire colors are different?.... I believe the locations should be the same, and I think there were only 4 pairs!
-pairs from left to right for FRONT ADS: red+blue, black+white (5ohms 5% 10watt) (NOTE FIRST PAIR SHOW WITH ARROWS FOR PHOTO)
-pairs from left to right for REAR ADS: green+yellow, red+white (2ohms 10% 10watt)
Step 2: Make module
Cut 8 wires to appropriate length (12" each is more than enough). Strip ends, place one end into the red T-Tap female connectors and crimp tight with plyers. Slide over heat shrink tubing if needed and heat with a blow dryer. place heat shrink tubing on the wire before soldering on the resistor. twist the other end of the wire with one side of the resistor, solder, and heat shrink tube. repeat for other side.
Step 3: Connect your new module
You should now have 4 resistors soldered to one wire on each end, both with red female T-Tap connectors. simply tape them together, and plug into the corresponding 8 male connectors. KEEP TRACK OF WHICH IS WHICH NOT TO PLUG ONES MEANT FOR THE REAR IN FRONT OR VICE VERSA. Check to make sure it works before putting back together, if it doesnt work check connections.
-plug one of the 5ohm resistors into the red+black, one into the black+white. (front)
-plug one of the 2ohm resistors into the green+yellow, one into the red+white. (rear)
After confirmation it works, screw ADS module back in, place your DIY resistor module in area of jack, place covers back on and done.
