"Check VSA System" warning message

I recently replaced the tie rods on my 07 MDX, and then drove the car (without having the alignment done yet) and the "Check VSA System" warning message came up on my dash display after about 10 minutes of driving. It had never come on before even with the bad tie rods and the steering wheel off a bit. So I went and got the alignment done this morning, and the "Check VSA System" message appeared again on the way home. I tried the manual ABS/VSA reset procedure outlined in a few youtube videos, but a 5 minute drive to the store a little while ago caused the message to appear again.

My research leads me to believe it might be that the steering angle sensor is out of whack-- again this message had never appeared until I actually replaced the tie rods-- so is it possible one of the tie rods is off, and even after the alignment the steering angle sensor is causing that message to pop up?I don't suppose there is any way to try to reset that without the Honda diagnostic scanner. Anyone have any other ideas what to check?
