Changing wheels tips - torque, lug size etc

I would double-check the owner's manual on amount of torque needed for the +22 MDX. I also purchased a teflon lug remover that helps protect the rims for my Acura. I would also get a regular wrench to break loose and tighten up the lugs and save the torque wrench for the final setting only. Don't store the torque wrench pre-set to the 94 ft-lbs setting because that can knock off its calibration over time.

I use this from my 19 MDX and it also fits my wheel locks.

Now both of my cars have the following tools:
-Breaker bar to loosen and tighten lug nuts
-Torque wrench with lug nut kit to fully tighten to 94 lb-ft
I added along with the tq & reg wrench in my trunk :
  • flashlight
  • 6X8 tarp if wet or muddy (use to kneel on and toss the flat in the back or use for Home Depot/Dump runs)
  • gloves & hand wipes
  • digital PSI gauge
  • take my Ryobi P747 battery operated air compressor on longer out of town trips (use also for MTB and other cars at home)

I always carry a small 12v plugin compressor in the back compartment. It's small, fits easily, and can be useful in an emergency.

Ditto the gloves, flashlight, towels (which I use instead of a tarp), and miscellaneous other things. I even carry a voltmeter in case I want/need to check the battery.

I actually don't carry a torque wrench in the vehicle. I can get close to spec, and certainly adequate, with a normal lug wrench like the one that comes with the vehicle and making it tight but not too tight. It's not a bad idea to carry a torque wrench along with - I've just never done it and have just double checked/retorqued once I got home in the event I had to change a tire. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to put one of nsxstasy's cheap HF torque wrenches in the back if I could bring myself to buy one there.

For long trips I always carry a tool bag with sockets, wrenches, pliers, baling wire, electrical tape, and miscellaneous other tools. I've never needed to use them on the MDX but I did use them on a trip not long ago to fix some random lady's vehicle who had some debris damage up against her tire and was stuck.
Yup! I rather have it and not need it compared to need it and not have it. I also carry a 24,000 tow strap, NOCO GB-50 Li-On jump starter, smart (idiot proof) jumper cables, glass break/seat belt cutting tool, a couple of 55gal trash bags, and Windex wipes (for getting bug gut on windshield instead of using the wipers on +4hr road trips).
