Acura used to use SiriusXM traffic for their prior Here/Navteq Navigation. Now that they dropped that for Google Nav, I don't think they can justify hardware tuners any longer given the % of owners that use SiriusXM (they have telematics to know when it is used on prior model years).

Honda also dropped SiriusXM when they switched to google builtin. There are some aftermarket tuners that supposedly seamlessly work with these new Honda head units. Maybe they will also work with the 25 MDX?
I'm beginning to look into that as I now contemplate leasing a new 25 MDX A-Spec ADvance, in lieu of buying my 22 MDX Advance at lease end for $38,500 with 22.7K miles on it.... I would use a Used Car loan form A Credit Union at 5.89% for 5 years (with penalties for partial or full prepayments). THe new B&O stereo and the lack of a SAT Radio head unit, gives me Pause on the consideration. I intend to take an extended test drive today and make a final determination on my decision. I realize as an Old Timer, that New Cars have an "allure" to suck you in. Gotta keep the Brain in control of the heart.

Whoooaaa, I didn’t realize it was gone especially after the sales person implied I had 6 months free access when I asked about it!
You realized this after buying it, probably!! Sure a salesman won't emphasize any Negatives of the car when taking a test drive. I'm sure focused on the performance of the car rather than the functions of the InfoT. system and were Lured by the new Touch Screen. Back in November ,I took a short Test drive of the 25 MDX and the 25 RDX as well. I am used to Google based apps (Google Pixel 8 Pro phone) and was initially enthralled by the Touch Screen and hadn't realized there was no SAT Radio. mvl stated that Acura couldn't include it based on the new B7O stereo and going from their proprietary NAVI system to a Google based system.

Curious.....How do Like the B&O sound system? Many Reviewers on line seem to make comments with Tongue In Cheek about it comparing it to the previous ELS system. My 22 MDX with ELS has been great... I'm starting to self Debate buying my 22 MDX vs Leasing a new 25 MDX... New is Not Always Better (except love to have those Massaging Seats !).

The touch screeen works okay at a stoplight but not on country roads. The thread relates to changing stations without using two fingers on a screen. Obviously the designer of the MDX entertainment system doesn't drive.
I know what the thread is about. Plenty of music apps work with steering wheel controls and Android Auto. It's on XM to make their app work correctly with AA.

I just picked up my 2025 MDX ASPEC. Of course at delivery, realized there's no XM radio anymore. I loved flipping through the stations on XM using the steering wheel control on my last MDX. While I understand you can add the XM app to stream music there's no way to control anything from the steering wheel. You are constantly taking your eyes off the road to do anything using the touch screen. Anyone have any advice to suggest an app that will give you that ability to have "channels" that you can change using steering wheel controls?? HELP!!
I agree when you spend 70K for a car and it doesn't have sirius it is a real let down. I don't care for google or android phones. I guess I'm stuck with this dinosaur or maybe time to return to Mercedes.

Well How Do You Like This?.... Per the email I received from Sirius yesterday.....Sirius Now Available in Teslas!! Probably via a SAT Headunit....

available in Tesla Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck vehicles

I will +1 this thread...picked up our '25 and no XM. We are Apple users so added the XM app to the phone to play through CarPlay. Two problems to this...1) we live in CO with these things called mountains where phone signals drop, so makes the app useless and 2) we road trip and not every road we are on has a signal. Our use cases are perfect for a true sat radio so we are sad about this option...I guess we are one of the few that uses XM still 🤷🏻‍♂️. This is more than a software update too...seems like the antenna on the '25 is not equipped to pick up sat radio so a tuner would require a separate antenna.
You are NOT the only one to use and enjoy Sirius/XM Radio!! I retired in 2021 (73 YO now) and after commuting was nullified by COVID Hibernation at my POE on March 17, 2020, [The only benefit of Work at Home was no more commuting - but Hated It due to several factors not for this Thread] I drove primarily on local Suburban trips with the 2X a month longer haul to visit Family. So, while driving I either listen to AM radio or switch to XM as desired. In my 22 MDX Advance....easy Peasy. I just Bit The Bullet" - took the trade in (lease expired now) of the 22 MDX, and leased a new 25 A-Spec Advance. I can post my initial feelings about the new one in anotjher thread. I am LIKING IT - But I am Bummed about not having that SAT Radio !! It's PIA now streaming it. Hoping to get more user friendly Info here on this Thread.

If you touch the screen anywhere while negotiating a curve, going over a dip or bump... its always at the wrong time, you choose something that you don't want. The touch screen developer, probably setting at a desk, has no sense of this in a moving car.... and at arms length. Its good you are right handed! Goodbye presets...
I just got a new 25 MDX A-Spec Advance......I'm LIKING it (I use Love for people) - quieter, I'm feeling it rides a tad better as well (but that may Psychological effect ...LOL), massaging seats are dynamic, BUT I think the ELS stereo was little better IMO. I wsa not a fan of the TTIP. In fact in 2019, I took an MDX Advance over a RDX bc of the TTIP. In 2021, When I first saw on line and then in person, the new 22 MDX - Bingo I was hooked on the redesign, TTIP be damned. After some time though I did get used to it and having HUD and steering wheel controls and finally learning to use the "Shortcuts Icon - it was fine. Now with the new Raved about Touch Screen, eeehhhh, it's less than the big fanfare proports. And of course, losing the SAT radio is more unpalatable to me than others who haven't used it. Now I need to engage AA to use it! In my 22 I did NOT need to be in AA - which was a PIA bc of the SLOW reacting TTIP in AA Mode. I think I may do a "Deep Dive" [generally I dislike that term so regulalry used) into your suggested DIY add on !

I LOVE my 2024 MDX … I save LIKE for people except my bride of 43 years 😉. I also LOVE my touch-pad vs touch-screen, particularly with Satallite radio on the menu. After having driving a Cayenne GTS and a variety of Beemers, this is a great car. The Germans build a great vehicle no doubt, but i find the flawless execution of design and delivery of power in the Acura to be superior; not to mention at a much better price point. I liked the Acura so much I sold my Ford Maverick and bought a Ridgeline which is almost as smooth as the Acura because it has a 134” wheelbase and a unibody suspension, plus it has other nice features (in-bed trunk, swing-out tailgate, fold-up rear seat). Of note, the driving and environmental controls for the Honda are almost identical to that of the Acura which saves my pee-brain from having to re-learn how to drive and adjust temp every time I switch vehicles.

That’s great … can’t wait for 50! My dad picked the center cigarette out of every pack of Winston’s wishing for 50 yrs with my mother … in today’s world that’s kind of a weird way to wish for a long marriage, but in the 1950’s it wasn’t as odd… regretfully, he passed accidentally in his 40’s so I hope we can fulfill his wish!

You're missing the whole reason for satellite radio. There are many Android music apps: but SXM is not just another music streaming app, It's a selection of probably 300 stations, some of these are live sports, talk, weather etc. All of which work nationwide even in remote areas where cell phones don't.

BUT some genius at Acura chose to save a fiew bucks and eliminate the Satellite tuner and antenna. A $70k car with a 60's AM/FM radio and BYO (bring your own) music system. Big touch screen on the dash with very little functionality.

I'm not missing anything and I understand the appeal of satellite radio, though its not the panacea you make it out to be. Had XM in both of my RLs, mainly for NavTraffic at the time, and had it in both of my Audis and my Range Rover. It works "nationwide" except when it doesn't - it has problems with signal getting blocked by trees/forests, bridges, tunnels, etc. Enough people weren't using it and Acura got rid of it. If SiriusXM cared, they'd update their app so it worked with Android Auto. It stinks in the short-term for the people who still use XM. But it will be moot in the next couple of years as Starlink satellite cellular data goes live.

Then, they should file a complaint through the dealer about the software and it may be addressed. For example, my ‘22 would not back up with a bike rack and I had to disable the safety mechanisms. I went to the dealer, had him document it with Acura because it had been able to do this in the past. Less than a year later, it was fixed. Pretty sure a lot of people complained about it…..

If enough people do this, they may update the software
Dan in Denver, you bring up a good point which reminds me of a comparable story - only it involves a 2010 Infiniti G37X car. When I drove that car home after picking it up from the dealer (it replaced a 2007 G35X which was the best car I ever had to that point of time), I noticed that it "bucking" a bit - like a Torque converter issue. The Infiniti had a New 7 Speed AT hence the 37X label. I called the salesperson the next morning, was asked to bring the car that day. After meeting the head service tech and then the Service Manager,I was informed that "That is the Normal, that's the way it performs". It was creating erratic lags under different scenarios. I did NOT notice that in my quick test drive. FF to over 2 years later, after I made myself a PIA with filing complaints every time I brought the car in for service and meeting Infiniti Regional Reps, and posting continual comments on a Infiniti G37X Forum, I was informed that Infiniti came out with a "fix". The software update significantly enhanced the performance. It was a 3 year lease. The Head Tech advisor (Pepe Infiniti in White Plans, NY) told me that this done because of YOU!! I shrugged that comments off......but he insisted that my many continula posts and complaints forced Infiniti's hand to make the changes. There had tto be many other complaints, but I will say mine were very Vociferous and regular. 6 Months later when the lease expired, I traded in that 2010 G37X for a new 2013 M37X - that was the best sports sedan I ever owned. I still miss that car!! All the Bugs were worked out; it performed and handled magnificently, comfortable, roomy mid sized Sports sedan. Due to the desire of most to get Bimmers, MBs, Audis, Volvos, and yes, Acuras, Infiniti never achieved that "luxury" car status. Was the 2013 Audi A6 with it's Supercharged V-6 superior - yes...But for $250 more a month on a 3 year lease, and a Much Larger Upfront Cap $$$$ ,the Infiniti was much better value. It was never accepted in the my Market Place (Suburbia NY) - I saw very few on the road. No matter.... I usually drum to a different Beat.

I bit the bullet and just leased a new 25 MDX A-Spec Advance on 2/1/25. I wrestled with the decision to buy my 22 MDX Advance at lesae end for $39,000 or lease a new 25 MDX (Or other model cars). For various reasons (some of which were "heart" vs "brain" driven), I did what I did knowing the issue of the eliminated SAT Radio Unit in the 25. I read the many posts on this thread about this issue; my test drives focued on the other principal features of the new MDX. I used Sirius / XM radio alot n my 22 MDX. Now just after 3 days of using my new 25, I never realized how much I missed the ease of access and use of Sirius in my 22. Even with the TTIP, which I had become accustomed to. Truth Be Told, the new Touch Screen is over - hyped. Yeah, it's responsive, easier to use (particularly "right out of the box") to the common driver, but really not a big a deal as proported - in my honest initial opinion. But I like that the 25 is quieter, rides just a bit better, has the impressive Massaging seats {i know My bad back and neck will thank Acura}, but leaves a me a bit puzzled why Acura changed to B&O Stereo system [ initial impressions to my ear is the ELS system was "better"]. However, notwithstanding whether one uses or likes SAT radio, Acura should have allowed or granted an option to have a SAT Radio unit Built in to the system for add'l charge (if that was the issue - $$$$$). Perhaps, only perhaps, if enough of us file complaints with Acura either directly or via this and other Forums, something could be offered??? It's a big If tho.

They didn't offer the sat option because nobody would buy it.

My last 6 or 7 cars came with satellite radio, I never once have even selected the output on any of the cars. Judging by the amount of spam mail I get asking me to subscribe to sirius, I am a typical user.

Using the old words from a song ....."You Don't Know What You've Got Till It's Gone" ! I have the SRM app on my Google Phone which I never had to use either in the car or at home (I play it at times at home via using Alexa). In th ecoming days i will Fool with it in the new 25 MDX. Since I mostly use my MDX locally doing whatever in Suburbia (Retirees do that), I either would listen to Talk Radio either on AM radio and /or Sirius XM ncluding switching off to some of my Fav channels - easily, now not so. As Posted earlier, even TESLA has now added SAT RADIO to their cars... I guess Acura needs that extra $200 or so by eliminating the unit / Receiver. At least it was There and you could subscribe or not.
