2025 NO XM RADIO! How do you get to "change stations" from the steering wheel while streaming music?

I just picked up my 2025 MDX ASPEC. Of course at delivery, realized there's no XM radio anymore. I loved flipping through the stations on XM using the steering wheel control on my last MDX. While I understand you can add the XM app to stream music there's no way to control anything from the steering wheel. You are constantly taking your eyes off the road to do anything using the touch screen. Anyone have any advice to suggest an app that will give you that ability to have "channels" that you can change using steering wheel controls?? HELP!!

I have yet to test the Sirius XM app in my 25 MDX beyond what the salesman showed me on the day I picked it up 2/1. From I recall in his demonstration, you are correct. I believe you must select stations via the main screen. Unlike the other streaming services like Tidal, Spotify, etc. which do work using the scroll wheel on the Steering wheel. This fact just fortifies the frustration of Not having the SAT UNIT built in!!

Didn't know others got rid of SAT Radio...Honda? Toyota and Ford too? Keep in mind that many car makers were looking to get rid of AM Radio too. But have had that reversed bc of Congressional efforts and bills. How Stupid is that. AM radio is far reaching and used for National Emergencies!!!

I posted my feedback and complaint I sent to Acura advising them to look at the two main MDX Car forums for all the unhappy and disgruntled customers with this issue. I suggest you all do the Same ! It's only an email to Acura Customer service!! Do it thru the Acura Website. Who knows could prompt something.

For my situation.., in a remote area, I installed an aftermarket tuner which recieves SXM by satellite (not phone). However, when I'm in town Spotify and others have an app that works with my phone and interfaces with the OEM screen and controls.

I am by no means an audio tech expert, but this I believe is an Android or Apple Auto App... which SXM doesn't offer! (not to be confused with the SXM phone app). So why doesn't SXM offer an Auto App? I can stream SXM with my phone but I can't use my in dash system without the use of this non existing SXM Auto App. I wonder if there is one in development or is there some technical or licensing issue that prohibits this?

That's a good point about the SXM App. Spotify,Tidal, etc provide a Link in their apps. I did it today with Tidal. You go to the Play store on car's screen, download the App,once it installs, you open it, and it guides you to your phone app. You log in to the phone app and the two apps link up, after I punch in the code that appears on the phone from the car screen, it's Linked and operates in the car with the controls.

Lovejoy, you are Almost making regret that I didn't buy my 22 MDX Advance ....... However, I will say initially I felt that the Touchscreen was Over-Hyped, using it more as well as some of the other new features, including having "learned" how to customize the B & O sound system, has reversed that feeling.

Pertaining to the SAT Radio, I have contacted a a very Good Car Audio shop nearby who said that a new Receiver can be installed and will work with the InfoT. system. I have not pursued it yet as far as pricing. I may wait some more to see if dwboston's comments come to fruition. Or Acura comes up with a possible Offer through Dealerships. I will "fool" with the SXM app to see how workable that can be. I'm curious to see if it performs better having engaged the AT&T Mobile WiFi Offer trial for 90 days. Am I wrong about that? I used to think I was generally savvy about digital "stuff" but over the past few years, much less so.

Regardless of your personal intent to go for a different vehicle In lieu of a 25 MDX because of the SXM Radio, it would help to contact Acura in the previously cited manner indicating your displeasure of this move. The more the Merrier. There is power in numbers ! If enough people lodge their complaints and displeasure, it may catch the attention of folks on the top, showing the error in their ways!

Personally I'm happy Acura is unbundling a lot of the car audio so that you can buy things separately. Similar to the old double din days. I mean if I wanted ELS 3D but didn't want air suspension, there would have been a choice.

Aftermarket Sirius tuners are awesome, I've never had a single issue with any of them. Install is a breeze at any high end audio installer. And Acura left the SiriusXM tuner software on the tablet, otherwise these aftermarket tuners wouldn't have fully usable touchscreen integration into the 2025.

I'm a big believer in aftermarket add ons, it makes a car perfectly meet your needs. I wanted a 2-door, so I kept the RSX and added a double-din Kenwood Excelon Android Auto tuner, Sirius antenna, wifi hotspot, wireless car charger, LED headlights, front and rear parking cameras, and I basically have the perfect 2-door Acura (for me). I wanted a hybrid, so I did the same: 2020 Hybrid MDX, added a wifi hotspot, wireless car charger, wireless Android Auto, and in a few week's I'm adding on self-driving - again the perfect car (for me). Wife wanted "everything" so got an RDX PMC, but then added custom caliper covers, a dashcam, and now self-driving - perfect car (for her).

I had a 2015 and a 2018 Acura with SXM and a Tacoma 2010, 2015 ....all with factory installed SXM. All worked perfectly with the steering wheel controls. All had easy to use... safe .. drive at the same time controls (BTW my 2015 Tacoma is the best). I now have a 2025 Acura with a SXM brand aftermarket tuner. ---- It's a Major step backwards! ----

The aftermarket SXM tuner does (work) with the steering wheel controls. With exceptions... for example: you can choose stations in rotation ... but NOT your PRESETS in rotation. To access your preset station list you must first access the dash screen and choose between several icons just to find your preset list then choose a station from your list every time.

And NO Acura did not leave any SXM integration, tuner or antenna. You have to feed the aftermarket tuner into the auxiliary port. Yes SXM should do something in conjunction with Honda to make this more integrated or at least offer as an option.

BTW I did hear... that in some locations... T Mobile has made a deal with Star Link. Hopefully it's more than just a satellite to a cell tower. Satellite directly to my phone and/or car would be interesting.

Notwithstanding a very informative post, mvl, some of the displeasure posted (including me) stems from the fact that this removal was never emphasized during the buying process. I knew about it from watching reviews On Line, where 1 or 2 reviewers denoted this issue. Not trying to Best A Dead Horse ( that's a lousy term), just trying to stir up some displeasure to submit to Acura. At the Minimum, Acura could recommend some actual Model specific Receivers that could be installed aftermarket.

The removal of XM sirius does not affect me because I live in Poland, but I understand your frustration, I am irritated by the removal of the CD drive and disc storage

Now after using the SXM App in my 25 MDX, in lieu of having the actual Receiver, via AA, it is downright Awful. I'm led to this, then to that, back and forth setting up "libraries" of stations - the most confusing Crap I've ever encountered. Thi makes me regret NOt buying my 22 MDX!. So, Either I will have to install an aftermarket unit to work with the Touch Screen (which is Over-Hyped IMO), or try to figure out how this can be setup to work more easily! Unless, I can get better instruction about the use of the new system, the new system virtually forces the use of Android Auto to use SXM. I am aware of all the Hoopla language that the new system is Google Based, but I have found that I miss the Acura NAVI system in my 22 - very easy to use, clear to see & read, and simple.

SXM works differently. You change channels not songs. About the same as a television. The presets are for your favorite channels. But the steering wheel/console toggle changes channels in rotation, ....not your presets in rotation. This is partially because you're using an aftermarket tuner and it isn't integrated like the previous MDX.

raceparts, regarding the After market Receiver you DIY installed? You hooked it up the Center Console USB port = tgus You selected USB on the InfoT. system and Sirius/XM plays through that. With this installation to that USB port - can I still plug in a Flash Drive to play through the same Port?? There are two USB C ports in the console (which brings to light another PIA - Had to get a USB A- to C converter in order to plug in the FDs!!). Only 1 can play FDs. Appreciate your info!

The SXM tuner is plugged into the only USB connector port, the left one in the console. You would have to plug in one or the other device like a ipod or flash drive. I don't know about a splitter, again the tuner is always on. I believe the other ports are only for charging, same with the two on the console, and back seats, only charging. The owners manual page 263 has a brief summary of the devices you can connect.

From what you say, I would have to try a Splitter to be able to keep the SXM unit plugged into the USB Port and be able to plug in a Flash Drive . Making this SAT RADIO elimination a bigger PIA. Still Amazing that Acura removed the Receiver !!!

Yes, similar to what I received in the past. But I pursued it more, with follow up emails requesting after market recommendations which Acura will not supply. I will continue to respond with how ridiculous this was to do. The More complaints they receive the Merrier. Can't Hurt other than making Acura Awae what a Petty move this was.

Here's their stock response to the email sent via Acura Link:
