Zaino Group Buy - Interested?

Note: This Group Buy Has Ended. Next One ~July.

Hi, folks. Well, I just got off the phone w/Sal Zaino trying to arrange a holiday group purchase. There's good news and bad news:
  • good news: we can do another Group Purchase ("GP")
  • good news: The new ZFX product has just been released
  • bad news: we can't do the GP til January (Zaino doesn't have the additional bandwidth right now due to the new product launch)
In the meantime, I'd like to determine if there's enough interest in another GP @ the beginning of January
(we'd need @ least 20 people, just like last time).

If you're interested, <a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=zainogp">Click Here to shoot me an email</a> indicating your interest*. When 20+ people have responded (and on January 2) I'll call Sal and get a GP code, then will email you the code w/details of what freebie/discount we get :)

Since we can't squeeze this in before the holidays, maybe we can craft a "Zaino Gift Certificate" that our significant others can give us in lieu of the actual product.

You can refer to the prior Zaino GP thread** for additional information and FAQs/suggestions, or feel free to ask in this one.

Lemme know!

Footnotes
* if that link doesn't work, send an email to [email protected] with the subject zainogp. This one is NOT an autoresponder like last time; I will send a group email once the details of the GP are finalized (and then will set up an autoresponder for additional people)

** don't click the email links in the old thread -- that email doesn't work anymore

Note: Don't contact Zaino directly re: this yet. We will receive the group purchase number and ordering instructions @ the beginning of January. This go-round is just to express interest.

bumpin' for the weekend warriors...

We've hit the minimum number of participants, so this buy is ON!

If you haven't emailed in yet, just shoot me an email @ the link posted above if you're interested; we'll collect names through the end of the month.

FYI - unlike last time, I'm not sending out the automated "thanks, got it" email; I'll just send one email w/the group code and ordering details when I get it from Sal on or around January 2.

Questionsssss from rookie

Hi Worm,
I just picked up my Christmas present last night (02SS), and now I am ready for good tips and deals on car detailings. I have heard and read many nice things about Zaino, but can I ask a few questions regarding GP before I commit?
1. Does this GP only apply to the ZFX product?
2. What are the savings from the GP? How does it work?
3. I read from your earlier thread on Zaino GP, you recommended a few products for beginner, will I be able to get GP price on them now?
4. I have a silver X, what products would you recommend?
5. Does Zaino ship to Canada? Extra cost?

Hope to hear back from you soon.
Have a very Merry Christmas.

1. Does this GP only apply to the ZFX product?

IT'LL APPLY TO ANY AND ALL ZAINO PRODUCTS

2. What are the savings from the GP? How does it work?

WE GET A "GROUP PURCHASE CODE" FROM ZAINO AND WRITE IT ON THE ORDER FORM, AND ORDER DIRECT FROM ZAINO. WE WON'T KNOW THE SAVINGS/SPIFF TIL SAL ZAINO TELLS US. LAST TIME IT WAS A FREE Z7 W/ANY 4 ITEMS PURCHASED. IT MIGHT BE THE SAME, OR IT MIGHT BE DIFFERENT. WE'LL KNOW AFTER THE 1st.

3. I read from your earlier thread on Zaino GP, you recommended a few products for beginner, will I be able to get GP price on them now?

SEE #1 - THE GP WILL APPLY TO ALL PRODUCTS

4. I have a silver X, what products would you recommend?

SAME AS THE SUGGESTIONS IN THE OTHER THREAD. I'D BE INCLINED TO SKIP Z5 (since silver hides swirls and scratches better than darker colors) AND USE Z2. I'M GOING TO UPDATE THE "SUGGESTIONS" NEXT WEEK NOW THAT ZFX IS AVAILABLE.

5. Does Zaino ship to Canada? Extra cost?

YES, THEY SHIP TO CANADA. I'M NOT SURE IF THERE'S AN ADDITIONAL COST, BUT IF THERE IS I'D IMAGINE IT'S MINIMAL.

Hope to hear back from you soon.
Have a very Merry Christmas.

Worm,
Thanks for putting this together...

Wongster,
Congrats on the new X...
Between the MDX and Zaino, you've found two products that a lot of people are seemingly-devoted to.

Also, if this is your first time with Zaino, just want to emphasize to use it very sparsely... Using too much seems to be the only wrong you can do with Zaino.

Thanks for the 411.

I am quite excited about putting in my 1st Zaino order. I probably will wait until spring time to use it, winter in eastern Canada is a lot lower than 60 F. At the mean time, should I consider something else to protect the paint?

1 last question, I read from the Zaino site that you do NOT need Z2 if you use ZFX, am I reading it wrong or there are some more behind this general comment?

Once again, thanks Mr. Worm and proskunetes for your helpful tips. Have a wonderful Christmas.

p.s. Mr. Worm, I have emailed you about the GP, I am definitely in!!!!

YES. JUST GRAB ANY HALFWAY DECENT WAX. IF YOU'RE GOING TO ULTIMATELY USE ZAINO, I'D NOT USE A POLYMER SINCE THE WAX WILL BE EASIER TO REMOVE W/THE ZAINO PREP (I.E. DAWN).

YOU MIGHT CONSIDER ZFX. I'VE READ REPORTS OF PEOPLE SUCCESSFULLY USING IT DOWN TO 40F W/O PROBLEMS.

YOU DON'T NEED Z1 IF YOU USE ZFX.

Happy Holidays!

Hope everyone had great Christmas dinner - just decided to leave the dishes sitting in the sink until tomorrow, my mind drifts right back to my new X.
I went to the Zaino site again, and Worm is correct, ZFX can substitute Z1 but not Z2. I also found on the order form that stated "Canadian order must email xxxx for info." I followed the instruction and found out that there is an offical distributor in Guelph, Ontario which carries all Zaino products, and all Canadian orders should go through this distributor.
Now my question are - will Zaino notify its Canadian distributors and honor the GP? If not, can I bypass the distributor and order direct from Zaino?
Mr. Worm, would you mind find out for me when you finalize the GP with Zaino? Thanks in advance.

The group purchases are only good direct from Zaino and not through distributors. However, in the past my understanding is that in some limited instances, some local distributors have chosen (independently) to honor the group purchase terms. I don't know whether this was for existing customers only or new ones, too. YMMV.

I'm honestly not certain how Zaino handles Canadian orders -- whether they charge a couple extra bucks shipping or reroute the order through the Canadian distributors.

After we have the GP code, and before mailing in the order, just email Sal ([email protected]) and ask him how he wants to handle it.

Want to Zaino

I've had my beautiful 'X for just over 12 days before I left for a 12 day vacation for the Holidays. I did not get a chance to give her a wash before I left and feel a bit apprehensive about what to do when I return.

I intend on purchasing a whole bunch of Zaino stuff--is there a recommended beginner's kit? I've heard that a wash with Dawn and drying off with good 100% cotton towels, and finishing with a good paste wax like Turtle wax should tide me over until the Zaino order comes in.

Everytime forum members write about the Zaino steps, it's like reading a secret code!! I've visited the website, but can't get a real feel for the process from the wording. I am a visual person and do much better with hands-on activities :p I can't wait!!

Am I skipping any steps? Pre-treatment for tough spots/bird doo?

I'm thinking about cutting my holiday short so I can rush home to install of the accessories I ordered from Tim--before he got snowed in :( I've travled from Austin to the metro D.C. area and am VERY disappointed that we didn't have a white X-mas this year!! The temps are about the same in both cities right now!!

Quick Update

Spoke w/Sal this AM.

We will have the GP code and details @ end of NEXT week.

Those of you who've sent me an email should have received an email with the "we'll have it next week" note. If you emailed me re: the GP and did not receive today's update email, please let me know at [email protected] (preferred) or by private msg (pls be sure and include your email addy so I can add you to the list - I can't automate replies/info in private msgs).

Note: This GP is still open and will remain open for at least two weeks from when we get the GP code, so if you haven't sent me an email to get in on it, you still can!

Canada and NJ

Hi, Worm,

The order form says NJ Residents should call for local dealers. Does this GP apply to those dealers?

Thank you for all the effort you did !!!

Zaino Discount

Hi Worm:

Thanks for the work you have done regarding our Zaino group purchase! It is a great product.

I have a comment on the discount provided by Sal. I am a repeat Zaino customer living in NJ. To get the discount Sal will only ship out of the state of NJ (no real problem for me as I have friends in PA nearby). This is done to respect his distributors. Understood.

However, with the group purchase at over 70 people from this forum surely we must be able to do a bit better than a free z7 with the order. My totals always seem to be $100+. In fact my last order was for $149.45. This makes our "discount" about 5.3% off retail. I know that this is better than nothing, but if Sal makes Joisey boys buy through distributors there must be a commission paid to these distributors, and this has to be more than 5%. Ergo, if all of the acuramdx.org sales are out-of-state, as they must be, and they all bypass the distributors, I would think we could do (significantly) better on the discount.

Also, with the free z7 offer there is no incentive for us to buy more product. No matter how much we buy, it is still the same "1 free z7". If there were greater "discounts" at higher purchase levels, I think Sal would get more sales...

As an alternative, could the forum become a distributor taking a small commission on sales to support the site? In this scenario, everyone wins. We get better discounts, and the site realizes revenue.

Just some thoughts... :D

zaino purchase

I ordered the products last week and could not believe the delivery was in just 5 days. Regrettably since I live in NY Long Island and we just got snow and the temp is about 32 I will have to wait a little bit until it gets warmer. By the way does anyone know if Zaino can be machine polished or must it be by hand. Thanks for the suggestions, looking foward to using this product as soon as possible.

Frank,

You could machine polish it no problem, but:

- it's a waste of bonnets. you'd need several vs. just a bath-size towel (100% USA cotton, remember)
- it wipes off without any effort whatsoever. give it a try by hand.
