Hi Folks,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post!
I'm looking to purchase a used 2016 MDX (preferably with the Advance Pkg. if I can find one).
I was going to test drive today or tomorrow and I started reading user comments about the 16 MDX
on Edmunds. Lots of folks were complaining about the 9A tranny being rough and jerky especially
in city traffic with lots of stop and go.
I read somewhere that there is a software "fix" for this problem. Is that true? If the used car I'm going
to test drive has had a software update...then the transmission should drive smoothly?
Or should I be looking at 2015 MY with the 6A tranny since I've only heard good things about that one?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Brian

My recommendation is to drive one and judge for yourself. I personally think it's a good transmission overall, shifts are decent. The 1-2 shift is firm when cold, but quickly goes away when warm. I thought the 5A and 6A in the second gen had better shift characteristics, but what are you going to do, technology moves on.
