First off - let me say that I am a big fan of the MDX and have a black Touring Package on order. My only complaint after a recent drive (and something I'm having a hard time shaking) is the feel I get from the cockpit. The long dash and big windshield feel very mini-vanish to me. I realize this is an Odyssey platform, but it sure feels like the front of the vehicle / dash was not significantly retooled. Has this bothered anyone else? Other than that, love the looks, quality, etc.. - well, wouldn't mind an auto lumbar support instead of the knob, but a very minor issue.

Will likely test drive again. I did order the lighter interior and maybe that has something to do with it. Also contemplated silver with the dark interior.

Lost in Space

We have only had the X for less than 2 months; however, that great big, spacious [cavernous] interior was a major winner for us. Claustrophobia is not something we worry about, nor is the great view.

Soooooo ... windshield works for us!!

good point - did enjoy the field of vision

I have to agree that the view from the MDX was tremendous. As a safety conscious buyer, this is very important - much more so than the "mini-van shakes".

Yes

You are right! Have had mine since Nov, my wife is the primary driver. It does take some getting used too. Try to casually reach to the top of the dash, what a stretch! So putting one of the dancing Hula girls or head bobbing dogs is more difficult. Never mind the suction note pads and other devices. The other: width and the fact that the nose drops off with no corner reference.

Other than that, fantastic auto! We have a '95 Legend LS, '98 3.2 TL and a '92 Montero SR. I love the Legend, but the X has been most gratifying! You won't regret it. (Hammer the accelerator at 45 MPH and the V-Tech will sing to you, you'll know you made the right purchase!)

Seeing well is a safety feature

The key point of this original post is that the windshield looks less interesting. However, it does not bother me, either.

Why would anyone want to limit the view just to say it does not look like a minivan? Not me, anyway. I like to "SEE CLEARLY". Being able to see well is a significant safety feature. The truth is: MDX is a much bigger box than, say, Rx300. It definitely has less angles and shapes from the outside, but it fulfills its looks and shape by providing many useful features and space.

Some points were mentioned in my 3 month ownership writeup:

MDX Windsheild

I have both an MDX and a 2002 Ford Explorer. After riding in the MDX and than the Explorer there is no comparison. The Explorer is almost like looking through a peep hole compared to the great view we get with the MDX>

Great view indeed, but those thick a-pillars played a couple of tricks on me - I nearly ran over 2 pedestrians !!! (that's 2 individual incidents :( x 1 pedestrian each ) during left turns. It happened during early going - ever since then I make it a rule to look "around" the a-pillar.

Cracked Windshield

Did something "happen" or did it just crack?

Looks like something hit it. There was a tiny speck on the point of impact. It was pretty tiny and it shouldn't have cracked the window. I've had much worse looking chips on windshields that never cracked like this one.

I ordered an original windshield, hopefully they wont screw up the install. I asked them if the aftermarket windshields were thicker and they said no. They're exactly the same except there is no HONDA logo...

Oh well... bad luck I guess..
