That doesn't represent any off road capability though, In any case the shocks could not even handle that light jump without bottoming out..

despite continued warnings from me, my parents went and leased a 2016. stick with your 2nd gen MDX as long as you can.

That's nothing close to offroading and something anyone could do with any vehicle - especially if they're unethical and willing to trash a vehicle just before turning it back in on a lease and subjecting some unsuspecting buyer to this adolescent stunt that looks like something a 16 year old would do.

I hope Acura inspects it well and charges for the damage that was done.

How is this any different than the related videos that show up on youtube for actual vehicle off-roading?

I've done a lot of actual off-roading (not in the MDX since it's not fit for it). Proper off-roading technique doesn't wantonly and cavalierly damage the vehicle and in fact, tries to avoid any damage. This is done by careful driving technique and in some cases certain vehicle modifications such as shocks designed to handle off-road conditions, a lifted vehicle that can avoid obstructions, skid plates to prevent damage from rocks, etc. Some vehicles are heavily modified with strong/stiff springs and other suspension components and can handle more rugged use and of course virtually none of these are leased vehicles - the driver owns the vehicle and chooses what to do with it.

Most people who pay for their own vehicles take reasonable care of them and don't purposely subject them to stupid stunts that'll likely result in damage for really no purpose. Ethical people treat vehicles others pay for with respect and don't trash them. Jumping a vehicle like an MDX, any gen of the MDX, is essentially trashing it because the vehicle isn't designed for such things.
