What gives????

I put a deposit down on a 2002 redrock MDX back in early April with a dealer in CT. We keep calling periodically to check on the status of the MDX....and we were promised to have it by mid-December. Around that time, the dealer called and said that we should go ahead and get financing with the bank, that it was coming in the following week. A day later, he calls us back, telling us that suddenly, our MDX is not equiped the way we wanted it....that they left out the Navi. This is extremely difficult for me to believe, as the day before, he said that "Your MDX redrock, navi is coming next week". He KNOWS we wanted the Navi from day one of ordering this vehicle back in April.....it was never an issue of deciding whether we wanted it or not.

Two theories:

#1. The guy is a complete schmuck and sold it out from under us......

#2 The guy is short a few brain cells and doesn't know how to use an order form correctly.

Now he promises he put us on the next "to-build" list....and that we should have my MDX by mid February.

Anyone else have similar problems??? If I didn't care for this vehicle so much....I'd tell this dealer to shove it.....they're too into themselves...and customer satisfaction is secondary to them.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Mid-February...

Hes a Schmuck!

usually in my opinion when there is a highly demand vehicle like the MDX...YOur sales person did you wrong by selling to another guy that is willing to buy more accesories and maybe perhaps put down a larger down payment.

In the history of dealing with car sales people....I DONT TRUST ANY of THEM...I dont care if you sell multi million dollar Bugattis. A car sales person are a car sales person...they all ar schmucks!

Another thing that tip me off that this car sales person is a schmuck is that Honda has its OWN finance for each Acura and Honda dealers. All they had to do is have you fill out a sales contract and run your credit report. If you are worthy then the deal is DONE. And you can go to your local bank or credit union to pay for the car. You usually have 30 days once Honda Finance approves your credit worthiness.

If I were you I go to the dealership. Ask to talk to a sales manager. Call your sales rep in and ask him by looking into his eyes. am willing to believe that he has a pull a fast one on you.

Sorry to hear that. Good Luck

Definitely a Weasel

I second what Fireblade said; this guy is jerking you around. I placed my order at a small dealership outside of Boston in early April and got my 'X two weeks ago (the Boston area has among the longest wait times in the nation). It stinks to enter into a business relationship of this sort with people who are weasels at the outset. You could contact Acura Client Services at 1 800 382 2238, but it's questionable what amount of satisfaction you would receive. You could also demand your deposit back with interest and go elsewhere. You are far from alone in this situation, but look on the bright side; you could order an MDX in Havasu Blue from another dealer and have it in time for summer! Good luck!

Susie, the allocation report is specific, if they had a RE/SL 188 last week that was coming in, it came in. See my allocation report, this is what your dealer gets, I've edited out some dealer codes and other non essential information, but it says what is on their allocation. They don't just leave out the nav system that would be a 186 TOURPKG, and they don't just switch them. I don't know the reason for you not getting your MDX but I would have a heart to heart with them. Once you have a build date, a couple of days after that build date they should have the vin #, ask them for it so you can get your paperwork started through your lender, if your dealer is doing the financing tell them you want to do the paperwork when the vin # gets there (approximately 10 days before the vehicle shows up). That should stop any Hanky Panky that goes on when your salesperson is not there, like your MDX being sold out from under you.

Susy, I want to let you know that I am in the same position you are in. I put a deposit down in April at a dealership outside of the Boston area and I was supposed to have delivery Oct/Nov. I was number 2 on the list for a white MDX. At the end of Nov. my salesman called me and told me that he is ordering and I should have my X by the end of Dec. When I went to the dealership to see what they would give me for my trade I was told my X does not have a build date till the end of Jan. with a Feb. delivery! Not only that my salesman said that he only had 2 white come thru the dealership but very quickly corrected himself saying only 1 came in, knowing I was told that I was number 2 on the list. The salesmanager said the same thing to me about 2 white coming in and the salesman had to correct him!!

I was so mad but there is nothing I can do but wait for my X. I did call other dealerships in the area and their answers were either be put on the bottom of their list or I could have an X in Feb. loaded with all the extra accessories!

I am curious to see what dealership you are dealing with. I wonder how many other people are having the same problems? I went to my dealership because they were not pushing me to buy extra after market items plus my brother had bought a 2001 X from them and he was satisfied with them. How can I now recommend this dealership to anyone!

14ME

I just want to thank you all for your replies....they are greatly appreciated.

14Me....I'm sorry for your situation.....sounds very similar to mine. I'm dealing with Acura in Manchester, CT. They were not very good from the beginning....after we put our deposit down, back in April, they were supposed to call us with a build date...and never did.....we had to keep hounding them for it. When we called to verify at one point that our order went in correctly, they had no record of our deposit, supposedly...and when my hubby threw a fit, they all of a sudden found the order form. They've been playing games from the very beginning...........

I, too, have called different dealers...and the only options are to continue to deal with these bozos and get my MDX in February, or to cancel the order with them, and work with another dealer....but I'd be placed back at the bottom of the list. SO FRUSTRATING!!

Roger, you are great. I credit you for my process ending on a good note. I did EXACTLY what you said above and pestered my dealership until I got a VIN. It wasn't until then that I felt the X was really MINE and wouldn't be sold out from under me. Financing paperwork then done over the phone so that all I had to do was walk-in, sign the papers and get the keys and go.

While I was there signing the papers, another salesman's customers started going thru my X-- opening all the doors and climbing in, etc. Then that salesman looked at me and said "Oh, is that yours??"....so I can see how if you're not there, and the offer is tempting enough, it can be sold out from under you if you haven't been given the VIN yet.

This is definitely the best way to keep the dealer in check and keep your X YOURS.
