Video Navi Mod Screen Shots.....

Here are some screen shots of the picture quality you might expect from the Video Navi modification via a RGB1 switch. Note that the pics do not do justice to the actual picture you get in reality. DVD playback is via a Panasonic in dash player.

Most of these screen shots are actual sequences so there is some fuzziness in the pics these are not still shots where I paused the DVD playback. This is one worthwhile modification and the most stealth monitor installation you can do. The switch I used to toggle between the movie and navi is a flush mount toggle switch with integrated mini led available at you local Radio Shack for about $ 3.00. I will post pics on that next.
Great pictures!! Wasn't sure how good the picture/color was, but am now convinced.

Where do you place your DVD player? Can you still hear the NAVI voice/directions when you are watching movies? Can you hear the DVD track if you toggle to see the NAVI screen? Do you use an FM modulator or tap in directly to the sound unit? Can you plug in a game console if you wanted?

I'm looking into doing something similar. Thanks.
Those are incredible pictures... I guess it is worth the upgrade... Just curious you said you used an in dash DVD player?

Where did you put or did you replace the factory radio?

Pics of the install would be appreciated if possible (at the dash area and switch)

Thanks,
Excellent!!!

That is definitely the way to go if your just looking to get some video in the front.....great job Xtreme!

I will be looking to do the same. The more info you can provide the better....I am currently in search of an audio/video shop in the NJ/NY area that may be able to perform the modification. If anyone may know of a shop please forward the information.

Xtreme I know you were doing some more modifications with fiberglass.....and was wondering if you were done with the entire installation....if so post some pics....I am eager to see it!

Thanks for the feedback...

If you look at the thread for sytem upgrade you will see what in dash DVD player I am using and how I installed them. The DVD pod is a temporary one because I will be building a new center console to house the DVD player, PS2, Audio control equipment(mainly an EQ and a master volume control)and the audio/video source switcher controls. It will not look stock, it will take a different look but nothing radical. This is necessary to keep all the equipment out of sight, meaning hidden panels will be incorporated into the design. The system mostly temporary as of now except for the subwoofer box. The sub box is almost done, I am still builing up the panels to make it stronger. I will post the pics as soon as I'm done. The oem Bose deck is still there and is connected to the front tweeters for voice navi playback. I'm still working one set of the oem midbass speakers to be mounted so I can hear the voice better. The other alternative is to hook up the navi voice wiring directly to the Panasonic unit because it does have a wire that hooks up to a navi sytem for the voice guidance system, I just have to figure how to wire it, I still have to contact Panasonic to get help doing that.

Keep up the good work and let us see when you are done!!!
