Lately my 2015 has started to show some odd behavior. After about 40 or so miles of driving after filling the gas tank, my Trip A odometer resets to zero. The associated MPG reading resets as well. It has happened twice so far. I believe the first time it happened while driving; the second time it reset itself after shutting the vehicle off for a few minutes, and then restarting the engine.

Has this happened to anyone else here? I've kept the Trip A odometer setting to 'Reset after filling gas tank' for almost 2 years, and this issue hasn't happened until this last week. Trip B has to be reset manually, and it doesn't reset on its own. I may try turning that setting off for Trip A, but: 1. I want to see if I can make the issue repeat itself; and 2. I want to get to the root of the problem, not just do a band-aid fix.

If this has happened to any of you or if you know of a possible fix for the dealer to do, I'd love to hear about it.

I had this exact same problem with my '13 MDX, and ended up just manually resetting the Trip A after each fillup. I never reported it to the dealer as a problem - I just sort of lived with it. Never had a rhyme or reason why it would randomly reset. When I had it in manual reset mode it behaved normally....

Thanks for the reply. Nice to know I'm not alone :) .

I kind of wonder if there's some minor issue with the fuel sending unit or something else. But so far, the gas gauge does seem pretty accurate.

I think I'll bring it into the dealership once and let them have a look. I have the feeling that I'll get the "cannot reproduce the issue" response from them, but I'll at least give it a try. After that, I don't think it'll be worth my time and effort to pursue it further and I'll probably just change the reset setting to manual mode like you.

Update

So I brought in my MDX to the dealership last week to see if they could get to the root of the problem. The shop foreman told me that they haven't seen the issue before. His recommendation was to do a check on the battery and electrical system, and he didn't think it was related to the fuel sending unit. They said that they contacted Acura to see if there were any other reports of the same issue, but there were none. While they said they couldn't replicate the issue, they did find that the battery voltage was a bit low. So they installed a new battery for me under warranty. So far after one fill-up, the trip odometer seems to be acting normally. The new battery also seems to have addressed another issue in which the seat, mirror, and steering wheel positions wouldn't properly move to the Driver 2 settings in cold weather. Time will tell if the new battery is permanent fix, so I'll just wait and see.

This probably has nothing to do with your issue but there is an option to have the Trip odometers reset each time the car is switched off or you can program either or both to continuously record until you manually reset them. That would explain why after refueling they reset but would not explain them resetting while the car was running.
