Wow!

Did anybody else notice that ugly cigarette pack sized black box above the inside rear view mirror that must be the rain sensor.

HEY ACURA ENGINEERS - COULD YOU MAKE IT ANY BIGGER!!

For that size, I hope it works.

Sorry,

No photos. I was out of town on Business.

I hope someone else will provide photos. Believe me, they won't have a problem spotting it!

Tell me that picture is upside down or am I standing on my head without knowing it?

I took the picture from the passenger seat looking up at the rearview mirror. Whether it's upside down or right side up depends on your perspective :)

!..

so.. how does it work?

and what does it do?

Apparently has a sensor flat at the top of the windshield. Probably uses a sensor to detect the amount of light reflected or scattered as rain drops hit the surface.
Have to use some internal light source like IR as it needs to work at night too.
I doubt if it's detecting moisture, it could not do that through the glass.
It controls the wiper speed based on the amount of drops hitting the sensor area.

Here's an aftermarket unit:

From the picture it looks like it is about the same size as the one in my BMW. It's a really nice feature that you will like so much you will probably forget it is there after a while!
