Test Pilot needed for MDX car cover

6531 Views 73 Replies 26 Participants Last post by  13BRAVO
I've just got in what is supposedly the only custom-tailored car cover for the MDX, just released last week and sent to me for a trial. Anyone interested in test piloting it?

Requirements:

1. You must have access to a digital camera to take pics and post your honest opinion of the product.

2. You must keep your MDX out in the weather (whatever your weather) to give it a true "real world" test. Garaged vehicles won't be able to give it a true test. Rainy climates a plus.

In exchange, you keep the cover. First accepting post gets the deal.

That would be a great way to hide a stolen vehicle after a joy ride, though- pop a cover on it, and leave it until someone decided to look under the cover for the plates and registration sticker.
Might be weeks.
I know in California it is very common for carcover owners to put their license plate number in big fonts on the cover itself with a laundry marker. Primary reason is a detterent against car cover thieves, and secondary, for ID purposes. Makes it easier for meter maids.
geezzzz........

I tested the car cover and everyone on the board was fine with the results except you, whats your problem?????
Good enough, I think. It's only a car cover. I suppose Tim could have had someone in New England run it through all 4 seasons.

Yes, one see that from time to time, however, one could be cited for failure to display the plates if the vehicle is parked on a street or highway

Yeah, they could do much anything they want. But seems it would be greater effort for the cop to attach a citation than to lift the end of the cover a little to verfiy the license plate is attached and valid.
I believe that law is primarily for 'plateless' cars and I see plenty of those driving around in broad daylight with no evidence of any ID.
Since the driver is probably not the owner, unlicensed, and uninsured I get's all academic at that point.

I'm not happy with it. I live in the Snow, and I would like to see more than a short test in a little rain. Several Board members wanted (and still want) to test Tim's cover, and I'd rather see them do it.

I think it's interesting that your wife told you "It has to go" Tee-hee, gimme a break! If it's on your MDX for a test, she wouldn't tell you to get rid of it. If it's in the closet then you're not testing it.

I see you didn't sell the cover because your reserve was not met.:2:

If you want covers for bad weather go here. You are not going to get a good cover for day in day out bad weather for much under $200. But here's a great one for $190.........(Evolution Technalon for MDX.......)

Those guys with Vettes, Porsches, Bimmers, etc. don't spend big money on covers only because they got the bucks.
Okay everyone dont want this thread to degrade into some untastefull. rvehock voluntered, Tim saw fit to give rvehock the car cover to test out. What he does with it is between him and Tim. Any other post in regards to him selling and he should of, will be deleted. If you still feel strongly just PM that certain person.

I have four other neighbors in my development that have an MDX so I will give the cover to one of them for further testing. I will also give them the url to this board and ask that they post any addtional feedback to the board. As to the comment about my wife, it is obvious that this board is not what it was when I first joined, I hope that it does not get any worse!!!

I would love to see how the cover handles with the snow as well. But he did does whatever Tim asked. "TEST in the REAL WORLD, under RAIN is a plus". He also has photos of cover (with his MDX) in many different views and gave the feedbacks.

If anyone should has problem with him selling the cover, I think Tim should be the only one.
I've been reading along, and this is how I see it. Did he do the test and post pics as I asked? Yes. Is the cover his to sell? Yes, when I give something for a test I do so with no strings attached, he fulfilled his obligation to the best of his ability for the are he lives in. Will I do another car cover test? No, because I have sold maybe half a dozen since then, so it's a low volume product.

I wonder whatever happened to the guy that I gave a set of Xenon-type headlight bulbs that was supposed to post pics, or the other guy that was going to install intermittent rear wiper components in his 01.....
Tim, have u read my post.
I think my MDX Cover is different from the descriptions posted above and on your website.
Read your post and sent reply via email through the site. Check your email and let me know if you didn't get it.

Maybe you should have test pilots who have been "active members". :4:

But when its all said and done Tim is a great guy for even letting us Test items out.
...going back to being off topic :D .....I guess I will not take the chance...I have horrible luck. Not to mention, as someone already did mention above, around here...they are just ITCHING to give tickets for anything they can......don't sit on any milk crates, ya hear? :p

Thanks to all though for the feedback, it is much appreciated....besides some "tense" back and forth in this thread, I still think this forums has the greatest members I have ever seen on any forum!! ;)
