rvehock,

How do you get the cover on/off? I didn't notice any running boards on your MDX.

Do you start with the back with the antenna?

Assuming I can somehow roll it up (haven't figured out how to do that on the MDX yet), to put it on I would stand on the rear bumper and let it roll down towards the front. Assuming no wind, I would then shake it a little and then hook it over the antenna, get down and hook it around the mirrors and then do the nose and tail (this is essentially how I cover my CL).
To fold it, I would unhook the nose and tail, unhook from the mirror, fold it so that it is on top of the roof. Unhook the other miror and fold it so that it is also on top of the roof. Next I would unhook the antenna and then start folding it over longitudinally on the roof. Starting from the front, I would roll it up while moving towards the back. When I reach the back it should be a small cylinder which I can unroll later.

Your method may vary from mine.

Some of the problems with a lightweight cotton cover was that if it was windy, it would be hard to put on/take off. Also if it got wet, it would be hard to handle due to the cover sticking to the car.

Tim,
I just discovered that there is a Hondacuraworld Aftermarket Accessories website. Is the car cover that rvehoch has, the one that is on the website?

I really don't know, honestly. Even though my aftermarket site has my name on it, the products aren't shipped through me. I decided to offer their products because of their good business practices and vast line of products.

Dmor! Where ya been? :)

Tim,

I can't seem to load the accessories site.

Anyways, can you reserve a cover for me?

Today I parked about 50 feet from a Jacaranda tree and afterwards I discovered my MDX was covered all over with little sappy spots.

I'll need to wash them off tomorrow morning. A few years ago, I allowed them to bake onto my CL for a few months and I had to use clay to remove them all. Since then I've always used a car cover (unless the car is really dirty, like after it rains).

Hey All,

Have been MIA for almost a month now but I am back...for a short while anyway....

Saw this post about the car cover and as I might be leaving my car for about a month possibly while I travel, I had some questions that myabe you guys can answer:

Stupid question # 1 -- Does anyone know whether it is legal or not to leave your car covered on the street? Also, if there is anyone in NYC (where I live) that might know specifically about here, it would be a great help.

Stupid question # 2 -- Does anyone know whether or not it would be a bad idea to leave my car under the cover for that long (or possibly longer) a time frame in 80 to 100 degree weather?

Thanks in advance!!

I believe it would not be a problem if you DON'T have opposite side of the street parking or if your gut feeling tells you that the cover WON'T get stolen. When in doubt call the local precinct.

IMHO letting your car sit for over a month would not be beneficial to your car. I would ask a close family member or a good friend to do you a favor and watch your X, just for the peace of mind.

Let someone else near MY mdx???? NEVER!!! Are you crazy?!?!?!?!?

:p

Just kidding, believe it or not, I really don't have anyone I could do that with. I know it takes its toll but I am not terribly worried about a month...longer than that yes, but not so much for a month. I called my local precinct and they said I could NOT do it, that it is against the law. They are probably right but it is rather discriminatory against those people who do not have garages or driveways if you ask me......

I believe there are laws/ordinances against leaving a car parked on the street for a certain period of time. Although rarely enforced, you might give them no choice if you put a cover over it for a month. My guess is that rule had some role in the answer given and would be a non-discriminatory reason for it. Just a guess.

That would be a great way to hide a stolen vehicle after a joy ride, though- pop a cover on it, and leave it until someone decided to look under the cover for the plates and registration sticker.
Might be weeks.

I doubt the police have time to look underneath car covers UNLESS your neighbors are ball busters and call your car in for looking suspicious.

I used to live in Brooklyn. I know for a fact that cops drive around in their little tricycles and check the windshields for valid inspection & registrations at night (sometimes during the day). They ticket those who don't have them. So, if you car is covered with lock and cable (I guess), cops can't see them and will give you ticket for it.

With current budget problems, the city would find anything to give out tickets!

Besides, using car cover while parking on the street is a easy give away for car thieves.

Hey Tim.
I brought a MDX Car Cover from you about 3 weeks ago.
But It looks very different from the pics above and from you website.
Mine is Blue and does not have the custom fit mirror, antenna pockets, security cable and lock.

Help me out Tim.

Obviously...
Which is likely why you think it was ok to offer to test something, fail to do so, and then sell the item for a profit.
I tested the car cover and everyone on the board was fine with the results except you, whats your problem?????
