A quick scan did not show any info on adding side trim so I thought some of you would like to learn how it has worked out for me.

When I was waiting 3 months for delivery another MDX appeared in a parking lot and I noticed that the doors had several dings when viewed at a shallow angle. They looked awful and I decided on the spot to have trim strips (side mouldings) on my MDX.

A nearby body shop installed them for me. They are plain 2 inch shiny black vinyl mouldings with nicely rounded ends at the front and back, with adhesive backing. The shop custom cut them (at 45 ) to fit the doors and installed them below a string tightly stretched against the side at the level just above the break in the door sheet metal.

Bottom line...they look like they were factory installed. One slushy and salty winter has passed now and a few car washes and they show no signs of trouble.

I do have a digital camera but my wife is away with the car at the moment so that will have to wait. If anyone wants to see a picture, let me know.

Body Side Molding

Hello Barry,

Acura makes the Body Side Moldings for the MDX. Most people on this site have bought it from www.hondacuraworld.com, since they come in body color. They are around $100. Do a search on BSM or Body Side Molding and you should find some threads. However, it'd be nice to see what you have on yours.

Side Molding

Please take a photo and post it. I had the BSM installed by the dealer and although it looks good - same color as the car (GG), I fear that it is too narrow and not thick enough to really protect the doors. If you look at other SUV's, many have fairly thick and wide so that it is very difficult for someone's door to touch yours. Wonder if anyone puts the black rubber/plastic strips that slide over the door edges to protect them as well.
