I have driven a few '03s and 2 '04s over the past several days. One problem I've had -- shifting into reverse. Sometimes it seems like I have to wait or try a few times before the car would go into reverse.

At first, I thought it might be that the car was still rolling forward or something, but even waiting a brief pause right after stopping, I still had the problem.

I wondered if perhaps I wasn't hitting it quite right given the gated shifter.

Anyone else had this problem or know what I'm talking about? I'm concerned as I am buying a car this weekend! All help appreciated.

MSK:confused:

I never had a problem yet, but I bet it's the shifter not the tranny. When I first purchased it took a while to get used to the shifter column, once I got used to it, the shifts are like butter and it goes right in. Sort of like finding the "G" spot, once you've been there it easy getting back.

pausing in reverse

Mine does that too. If you push on the gas before it gets in to gear it kind of jerks and clunks.
