There actually were some early-model electrical issues that caused fires in the X5's...I think it was the aux fan motor or something like that...but they did, in fact, spontaneously combust. A couple took garages with them.

Wonder whether that first one is the remains...

Weeping Mirror vs BURN BABY BURN!

Sometime ago I remember visiting the X5 owners bulletin board just to see how the other half lived. In their "problems" section - I do recall a lot of talk about X5s burning up and some other pretty catastrophic problems and major recalls. I just remembered coming back home to acuramdx.org and getting a chuckle reading all the angst about weeping mirrors. I guess trouble is relative:rolleyes:
Kinda reminds me of a time long ago when herpes was the worst thing that "risky behavior" could get you - everything else could be cured by a penicillin shot :7: Ah the good old days!
