Much of it depends on how the remote start is installed.....many of them are done the cheap way with snap splices over the wiring. Problem there is after time, resistance and corrosion can build up where the splice is put through the wire, because it's unshielded.
Remote starters are nice, but I've seen so many problems with them, that I usually advise people to stay far away.....unless the job is done properly with solder joint connections and shrink wrap.
Bear in mind also that you'll need to hide an uncut programmed key under the dash so that the system is fooled into believing that there is a key in the ignition, rendering the chip-encoded key security feature useless.
And yes, it will void that portion of your warranty.
