Has anyone figured out a way to connect to the rear RCA audio / video input connection with an iPhone or IPad and does it work?

I have an iPhone HDMI adapter so I assume I have to get an HDMI / RCA converter like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W9LQDBB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FhY5BbWZ0Y8CD

In theory it should work but curious if anyone has actually done it?

I have run out of DVD’s and I’d hate to have to buy more just for the car when I can stream unlimited Netflix / Prime / HBO / YouTube and I don’t own a DVD or Blueray player anymore. I can’t believe they put a DVD player as 2015 Tech. I was baffled when I learned it was DVD.

For anyone that’s interested I figured out a way to connect an iPhone / iPad to the rear RCA port for those that do not have an HDMI port (like my 2015 Tech / Ent)

I’ll have a video shortly but you need a few things to make it work.

You need:

Lighting HDMI adapter (I have the official Apple adapter but there are cheaper aftermarket adapters available)

HDMI cable

HDMI (in) to RCA (out) converter
I got the Gana $10 one

RCA cable

An available power source to plug in the HDMI / RCA converter.

There seems to be a few other options where there is a female HDMI in cable/converter/RCAout all in one that doesn’t require power but you still need the lighting adapter and HDMI cable. It was $25 for the cable made by RCA / RadioShack

The Gana Box converter I am using is $10.

There’s also a lighting single cable version that has everything needed but that was $90. (It’s still cheaper to peice it all together than to buy this cable)

Since I already had everything but a converter I figured it was worth a $10 try.

It works perfectly - the kids can stream YouTube, Netflix, Prime - anything as it’s a mirror link.

I’ll have a video on how I set it up and how I manage the cables.

Cheers!

Hey! Did you post your video on how you set this up? I have a 2014 with the tech package and it does not have an HDMI input. I would like to be able to stream Thanks!!
OP had the rear entertainment package. You probably don’t. You have nothing to connect to. OPs video probably won’t help you. Plug your phone into a cigarette lighter and stream away.

How are you able to stream Netflix? Netflix doesn't work via Lighting to HDMI last time i checked. Prime I have not but heard has similar restriction.

I had done a similar setup with a portal SD card media player but the wiring is just too much mess.

Here is the video I made on it. I was able to stream Netflix / Prime / YouTube. It just mirrors what is on the phone.

maybe folks in Canada have different iPhone / Restrictions. On this setup it mirrors whatever is on my phone to the overhead screen.

though since my youngest now has a device with unlimited data they havent used in a a long while. That whole entertainment system is obsolete.

I made sure for my 20 Pacifica I don’t have any entertainment or navigation or a sunroof. I just need CarPlay.

Nothing to do with Canada it's a restriction at Apple's end maybe they have removed it now, will recheck.
You are using Netflix app or in safari browser?

I have navtool in my 2g and can watch videos from phone and use car play and Android auto :)
