found the north direction, just had to touch screen to change from northern moving arrow to staight north point realized now that this is a feature if you want the screen to move or stay stable. found the other problem was a computer glick on vehicle had been shut down for 30 minutes or more the system reset and went back to normal. also found the the history in the trip meter was working on and off that also fixed itself once vehicle was shut down for at least 30 minutes. also found out from dealer this a common freeze situation that you may experience even with your house computer sometimes sytem freezes and has to be reset. he stated if vehicle is shut down say for an hour or longer does a minor reboot. also stated you can disconnect wire harness to nav unit under drivers seat when vehicle is shut down or off, leave three harness wires disconnected for at least 30-60 minutes reconnect wires with vehicle still off and this will safely reset the sytem you will have to follow screen prompts after reset to get system back to normal. he stated you should avoid going in thru the buttons such as menu, trip and control knobs. this is a troubleshooting for techs only you can create more problems than you think. better off reset thru disconnect of wire harness is safe and can't harm the programs. mine again is the dvd 2002 nav touring i believe it would be same for 2001 system. very happy again to find out this info:D :D :D :D :D
