Check out problem 99 in the knowledge base: http://www.acuramdx.org/kb_item.php?id=99

Has anyone else had problems with power steering pumps going out? This was quite annoying to have happen while on vacation, especially to have the same thing happen 1500 miles after the dealer fixed it.

Is there a general problem with pumps or do you think our service tech screwed up?

About the only variable would be the belt tension or misalignment putting undue stress on the pump shaft and bearings, or having contaminated fluid as a result of the first failure.
I don't know what the mechanic could do wrong during replacement except forgetting to initially put in the fluid before starting the vehicle, or make the belt too tight. It is a strange coincidence for what seems to be an uncommon problem.
However, there is a warning I believe to totally flush the system before installation of the new pump to avoid contamination.
It is possilbe during the first failure, the fluid was contaminated with solids as a result of the pump failure.
