The Hondanews website has 45 images of the new Pilot SUV. This vehicle was introduced at the Detroit Auto Show and apparently will offer a lot of the same features as the MDX, and quite possibly at a much lower price. It does offer a DVD entertainment system, will supposedly seat EIGHT passengers (not seven), and may be easier to get. I would suspect the price would be much lower than an MDX. It might even offer side- curtain air bags. I have heard production might begin as early as April of 2002, thus delivery could be as much as two weeks later if produced in Alabama.

Should we buy Pilot instead of MDX (with a long time wait!)?
I work for a Honda Dealer in Atlanta, and we are already getting requests to buy the Pilot that will not arrive until July of this year. The Pilot will only be mfg in Canada. The Odyssey is the only vechile coming out of Lincoln, AL this year, with a planned production of 150,000 units. The Toronto plant will still produce the Odyssey, as well as the MDX and the Pilot. That plant is slated to produce 190,000 units this year. We still have 6-8 weeks wait on sold Odyssey Vans after four years, with no relief in site. Shorter wait on the Pilot, don't count on it...
