Thanks for posting these up for me, techm8n~
I meant to post these up here with other X with rims as soon as I had some spare time, but been busy a bit.
Anyways, like I said, my rims go little shy on the width but I thought the overall face looks go well with the new sharper image of our new X.
what are the rims on the mdx at the top left? this mdx is just about perfect. 99% of the rims posted here and in the other rim threads are dreadful except for the OZ palladios.
*I'm definitely going to use the <b>40</b> series (<u>265-<b>40</b>-22</u>) on my future 22's as opposed to the <b>35</b> series(<u>265-<b>35</b>-22</u>).<br> Fortunately I won't be the first one on this board to do this- others have successfully fitted their 22 inch wheels<br> (<i>on the '07 and up MDX</i>) with this particular tire size. So rubbing, or fitment concerns aren't as much of an issue as<br> they would have been if I hadn't known of anyone who had used this size before.
265-<b>40</b>-22 tires will increase the tires' sidewall height while resulting in a smoother ride and potentially more protection- <br>I just think it's looks better aesthetically compared to the 265-<b>35</b>-22 tires for 22 inch wheels on the 2nd generation MDX...
<i>*sorry don't know what would be the 'best looking' size for 20's other than what Tire Rack recommended (above). </i>
<br><b>For me, it's 22's all the way... =)</b>
The first number is the width.
The second number is the profile, which represents the amount tire seen above the rim, sort of
The third number is the diameter of rim that would best fit that tire.
Using a series of mathematical computations you can use the above numbers to calculate the overall diameter of the tire. When plus sizing or getting recommendations from tire rack, the goal is to stay as close to stock overall diameter to maintain adequate speed and mileage measurements.
About the profile. The number listed is actually a percent and the amount of tire seen above the rim is actually a percent of the rim width.
example:
Stock 18's on the 07-09 MDX are 255/55/18.
255mm wide
55% of 255 is 140.25 mm of tire sidewall above the rim
140.25 divided by 25.4 (the conversion from mm to inches)= 5.522 inches of tire sidewall above the rim
5.522 multiplied by 2 because there is tire above and below the rim = 11.044 inches (the amount of tire contributing to the overall diameter of tire/rim
11.044+18 (the size of the stock rim)= 29.044 inches of total siameter.
Be careful arbitrarily increasing or decreasing the profile without taking into consideration the overall diameter of the resulting combo because it may render your traction control, abs, skid control, odometer and/or speedometer nonfunctioning (dangerous) or inaccurate (good way to get a ticket).
This is part of the reason I went with 19's cause they stay as close to stock diameter when you get 255/50/19's (29.039 inches).
For those that worry about comfort when going up to 22's, you guys are funny. There really isn't much appreciable comfort by slightly increasing to 40's but your changing your diameter to 30.34 , a difference of 4.5% seems not smart. Monkey see, Monkey do is not always that smart. Finally, having driven several modified cars through the years when you change with the factory settings you are going to compromise something, often times comfort, so why are worrying about comfort when you want to have 22's for looks? SUFFER FOR YOUR ART OR GO HOME!
Great find, fit, and appearance~ I would have never guessed from the pictures alone that those caps are of the '<i>soft flexible plastic type</i>' let alone that you bought them off ebay.
They really look like they have a machine finished/polished aluminum exterior- matches wheels perfectly =)
Misio...best look I've seen on the 'X' so far. Personally, I prefer a 'slightly' taller sidewall but man your 'X' looks fantastic! Kudos on a beautiful ride. BTW, what % tint did you use on your front windows?
Also, has anyone done a staggered 20" wheel setup on their 'X'? I am not sure it's even possible, still researching. Heck, I have not even purchased my 'X' yet.

From what I've gathered so far (<i>from too many hours of wheel & tire research</i>), a <b><i>staggered</i></b> wheel setup is never a good idea on an <u>all wheel drive</u> vehicle.
As for why? <i>I have absolutely no clue.</i> I did however read about this quite often...

I have contact manufactory about this setup and even they told me that is no problem at all to use there wheels.
Thank you all for your comments, it took long time of looking and photoshoping to find what will look good. Side wall is good, as far as sidewall I only put 32psi in it, you can go more but I like to have it nice ride quality and with those tires it rides just like stock on 18s.
My tint is 20% precut from ebay and installed by me.

What brand are those wind deflectors? How do you like them? Any new noises as a result of installing those? I'm looking to get a sets and would like some first hand experiences. Thanks.
