Little story about trying to get my roof repainted under the Acura Pearl White paint recall. Been trying to get this done since March. Now scheduled for mid September. Paint between windshield and sun roof has come off in about a 14" circle.

Chose a well established Honda body shop in town to do the job. They faxed quote for approval to Pittsburgh Acura. After not hearing from anyone for a month, I called Pittsburgh Acura and found out my local Honda body shop sent them a quote to repaint a Honda?

Called the Honda shop and let them know they sent the wrong quote. They resent the correct quote.

After not hearing for about a month, called the Pittsburgh Acura and was told the individual who needed to approve the quote was either out sick or on an extended vacation.

Finally Acura approved the quote for the paint job.

Honda shop schedules the job for end of June. End of June Honda shop says they can't get all the parts in. Didn't know new parts would be needed but rescheduled for end of July. There is a roof rack on my MDX. But I think they are replacing some moldings somewhere.

End of July, Honda still can't get "parts" in.

Here it is, mid August and Honda says maybe mid September parts will be in.

One positive thing is that Honda is going to replace windshield with an OEM windshield. Who knew they would have to replace windshield to paint the roof? Car currently has a sub par Chinese windshield from Safelite because GEICO would not approve an OEM windshield when it needed replaced for a crack unless I paid $1400. I even had windshield replacement coverage.

Obviously car performance is not hampered by a big blotch on my roof so Ive been patient.

Probably only loosing a few horsepower due to change in aerodynamics.:oops:

That really sucks, I installed the roof rack myself, basically, it is a one-piece thing and everything can take off and put back on without breaking anything, I really can't think of what they are trying to replace.
I have Geico too, since I got my 15 Tech in 2018, I replaced the windshield twice already by Safelite, and both times Geico authorized the OEM windshield due to me and Safelite both agreeing on the aftermarket windshield will have issues when doing the radar calibration, 0 out of pocket.
Hopefully everything will be fixed in Sep, good luck.

Part for roof rack or roof rails? I didn't know roof rack has any contact with roof, with exception of attaching on roof rails.

Yes, others have told me that GEICO authorized OEM windshield. But Ive called them each time and each time they said they would not cover it. Did have calibration issues but it was due to Safelite not reinstalling the parts for the calibration correctly at installation. It also effects your interim wipers and auto rain wipers. Went back to Safelite and a different tech removed the cover behind rear view mirror. One of the sensors was just hanging in there and was not attached to windshield. That fixed wiper issue. Not sure why GEICO covers some but not others????

I am happy you finally got this resolved. I had to deal with a similar nightmare and had to pay for the windshield replacement.

HELP RESOLVE MY STRESS!!! 2015 Acrua MDX roof just started peeling and it is bad. Is there any hope this is still covered under the warranty? It wasn't a problem until now. 😭
Per TSB 19-029, white diamond pearl roof paint warranty is 8 years from original date of purchase…. If you have a relationship with dealer service department, call them to start claim. If not contact Acura customer service to open case.

My 2014 just showed crazy peeling, all at once!
Not sure if the recent rain and cold in SoCal made it happen essentially overnight.
I know I am out of warranty.. I called one dealer for a referral to a shop they use. I texted the photo below and the ballpark quote was $2500!
Showed it to a body shop owner, who has not done the Acura repairs per se, but he said he could do it for me
For $500

Anyone pay out of pocket and can share estimates and outcomes?

Wow, looks exactly like mine did. Hope you can get Acura to cover under the TSB warranty extension.
