After calling all over the bay area and points nearby, the only dealer that would sell me at MSRP w/o forcing options on me or involving me in a bidding war (Mike Harvey Acura in Burlingame) with other buyers was Acura of Concord. My sales consultant (Rick) appears to be honest and straightforward.

They did require a $2k deposit and the waiting will be until sometime in April. Hopefully they will be straight with me and not succumb to tricks like bait & switch, sell my car to someone else and try and get me to take a different model/color, put the options on and then say this came from the factory this way or some other shenanagens as yet unimagined.

I will keep the group informed on progress. You will be the first to know as I spread the word, good or bad.

I thought NE was BAD

2K deposit!!! Wow!!! Anyways, I would double check that GG color that you ordered. I've read in here somewhere that the GG and Mahogany will be discontinued sometime SOON. Good Luck!!!

Hope it works out for you. I'd place a deposit someplace else, too, just to be safe. Prestige in Santa Rosa or Solano in Fairfield.

Concord isn't requiring their "Concord Protection Package" anymore? You sure?

Might wanna check these threads/ratings:

My experience there.

Re: GG, Protection Pak and Concord

Yes, its true. The GG is going away but there will be one last build during Feb or March. The deadline was extended 1 month for ordering.

It seems I am one of the first that Acura of Concord is dropping this requirement for. I was initially told that I would have to get it. I said, flatly I wasn't interested in that kind of deal and then was told the manager OK'd dropping this policy.

I believe that dealers are starting to smell the coffee for 2002 models since by April we are only 6 months from the 2003's. I was debating, myself, whether it would be better to wait at this point. However, life is short and precious and if I get into an accident in my long commute, I'd rather it be in an MDX and not my Ford Explorer.

Re: Solono and Prestige

I checked Solano this evening and they are quoting end of May delievry with $1K deposit, no Granite Green and $1200 of forced options.

Prestige will sell at MSRP but 3 to 4 months wait and only to local residents so that they get the service money. MSRP and no forced options.

I did read your experience, Worm, with Concord. I hope they have cleaned up their act.

Thanks,

Also try Hopkins Acura. $1000 deposit, no forced options but you may wait 3 to 4 months. Heck, if you have to wait that long, you might as well sign up for the 2003.

Try giving Arlene a call....a real nice lady.

Re: Hopkins

Thanks for the tip on Hopkins. They were quoting a very long wait - up to 6 months. In that case the 2003 does make sense.

I am now on the waiting list with three dealers. Two are with deposits. Hopefully this should do it. Otherwise 2003 it is!

mod,
Good luck. As you get closer to mid year, I think many people will cancel their 2002 and opt for 2003 which means you may get yours sooner than expected unless you wanna wait for the 2003.

See ya,

Mike

Regarding Concord Acura, I ordered Jan. 16, have a build date of March 5-9, so a delivery should happen by Mar. 23?!?!?:D I ordered a Meisa beige 188 (tour w/ nav) NO accessories were required! But, I have not taken delivery so time will tell. My salesman is Hadi, who is not the brightest star shining, but he does appear to be sincere and trying. So far I can recommend Concord Acura. Tim, in sales delivery is very helpful. Acura apparently sends out weekly order updates with the build dates. If you order one of the discontinued colors, Concord apparently pushes your order to the top of the list in order to not miss out on the sales opportunity, but this delays the orders of those who ordered before you. Apparently they are also having a difficult time getting red rock pearl? Don't forget to order all your accessories from Tim at Hondacuraworld.com Don't let the dealer rip you off with their big mark ups! One last comment, most other dealers badmouth Concord because of the forced accessories stories, but it does appear this has changed:)

MSRP and no accessories

I moved up on the order list and took delivery of my 188 (tour w/ nav) on Mar. 7. There were no accessories required, and no dealer mark up. The dealer experiece was great. The only "pressure" if you could call it that, was to give the dealership the highest rating, which honestly the deserved. After driving one day, the malfunction light came on, called the service dept. and stopped in without an appointment and had the fault remedied in 5 minutes:) ! It was only a faulty sensing on the gas cap seal? So if your reading this thinking about Concord Acura, my experience was positive:) :) :)

I also ordered one from Acura of Concord a week ago.
Actually, I placed an order at Stevenson Creek, but cancelled the deposit since they have not been responsive to my questions and "must-buy" accessories, which I figured I could buy from hondaacuraworld.com here (thanks!).

From my experience so far, Acura of Concord is best in Bay Area (not including Sacramento, Modesto, Stockton, etc.). Hopkins is also good, however, the waiting list is too long....

Can anyone who received a car lately post how long it takes?
It sounds like it takes less time to get one these days...

Thanks,

Hi Youngsoo-C,
I have a cousin named YoungSoo...you are not him, are ya?

I ordered mine on Oct 28, received it first week in Feb so about 4 months....

I also had postive sales experiece (did you order it through Hadi?), somewhat fraustrating with Service Dept (although it wasn't 100% depts fault).

Can you post what problem you had with the service dept?

4 months.... it seems to be shortened nowadays, but don't know whether or not to believe what the dealer says (how many people are ahead of me, how many units they expect to have in coming month, etc.)

I think Hadi is a good salesperson, better than those who work in Stevens Creek, SJ.

Order Time

Got mine in 7 WEEKS, from order to delivery!!:) Ordered Jan 18 2002, took delivery Mar. 7 2002. I moved up on the list because of a cancellation by about 3 weeks. The color was mesa beige, (color choice can make a difference in order time). Concord Acura really does try harder, with no forced accessories. Good luck with your order.
