Hi there,

I am thinking about odering some accessories w/Tim for my MDX to be. Anyone know how long it would take to have it ship from Tim to SoCal? Also I heard Zaino (spelling?) is good for the X, where can I get it and what do I need to get? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shipment from Tim to South CA should take about 7 days, including weekend, based upon shipment to North CA.

See the Detailing forum for tons of info on Zaino, then head over to http://www.zainobros.com to get pricing. I buy from a local distributor - email Zaino to find one near you.

Tim's on the east coast - 7 working days from him to me (Seattle). But he ships quickly.

My new RR MDX was prepared by the dealer with "paint sealant" treated on the exterior. I don't know the chemistry but the salesman said they prepared every new car with it and I don't need to wax or do anything on the vehicle for at least six months. It looks like something the dealer "spray" on the whole car. I must say it is already very shiny new.

Is the sealant thing considered "wax" and must be cleanup before using Zaino ? And does Zaino really add so much to an already shining new car?

Well, IMO now is the best time to apply Z if you are so inclined. You may not even want to clay it, tho I would recommend it. It's easy and takes off the rail dust you may have gotten on the transport that could be embedded in the clearcoat.

"very shiny new" from the dealer doesn't mean it's well protected. It may look nice, but I can spray on some cheap shine and it will look great too.

To be safe, and since Z does not adhere very well to wax, better wash your MDX with Dawn or other high alkaline soap to remove the wax before applying Z.

Just do a search on all the comments about Z on this site and you be the judge on whether it is worth it. I have put Meguiars, Zymol, and Griots on my X and, no question, Z is the best in terms of ease of application, removal, no residue, shine, clarity, depth, water sheeting in rain or carwash and longevity.

I tried to carry Zaino products on my website, but Sal Zaino won't give any distributorships to anyone to sell on the internet

Takes 5-6 business days to go out to the coast. For an exact time frame, just go to www.ups.com and calculate time-in-transit from zip code 14224.

Thanks Tim, I couldn't wait for your reply so I went ahead and order the stuff from you on Friday night. Hopefully I can get everything before my 'X get here sometime this week!
