I have a 2007 MDX and I'm looking at a 2017. Am I correct that they are still using DVD Navigation in 2017? I feel it's a rip off to charger for annual updates when I can use Waze on my phone for free and it's updated everyday.
My curiosity is asking what is Honda/Acura's reason to continue with DVD Navigation when the technology of data storage is so far advanced from that. What is the advantage?

Thanks,
Chiefg

The advantage is they get to charge you $99-149/yr per customer (+labor at dealer for those who actually get suckered into that).

Good point but Garmin, Tom Tom, and Magellan all work without DVD. The technology exist for small storage media and on air updates.
I still see no advantage to DVD.
