Does the nav voice mute the stereo completely or just slightly? I seem to remember that at one point, the stereo level was only slightly reduced for the nav announcement, but now it drops out completely. Anyone know if this is even adjustable?

The Nav only slightly turn down the volume on the radio but it does not mute it completely.

Yes.. it turns down a notch or two from the level of your music play so you can hear the NAV announcement. The female voice is so smooth .. it sounds like somebody, not a robot, talking to you.

I remember reading that the Nav mutes the front speakers, not the rest of them. The volume on the voice is certainly adjustable thru the setup option.

What would be nice would be if the voice adjusted for the noise level in the cabin - ie - when the voice is set in the middle, it's fine for the most part but hard to hear at highway speeds.

As TheWorm said earlier - youcanadjust the volume under "setup" to however loud you want it - if you are on the highway, just turn it up a little. I agree with Markedoc that it would be nice if it automatically increased the volume for the noise level in the cabin, but I also think it would be nice if the stereo increased in volume too..........

Oh well - I guess I'll just have to "manuallY' turn it up

I call the voice "Donna." I have gotten too may inquisitive people asking me when I am on my cell phone, who is with me in the car.

Threw my wife for a loop the first time she heard "Donna". "Who's Donna?????" she asked indignantly. I let her stew for a while....heh heh heh.

Plus I am too embarassed to admit I have to use a directional finder to meet some clients, who think they have given me explicit directions. HA!

Octavian - no problem . I like the "Donna" answer!! I can't pull that on my wife though - she knows I use the Navi!
