FINALLY PICKED UP MY NEW 2002 MDX TOURING WITH NAV, AND AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT. TOOK ABOUT 2 MONTHS TO GET CAR , HAD TO PUT DOWN 500 TO ORDER. IM IN THE NORTHEAST AND IT'S INSANE THAT WE HAVE TO PAY OVER MSRP FOR THE VEHICLE HERE. ACTUALLY UP TO $3000 OVER MSRP AND FORGET ABOUT ANYTHING BEING THROWN IN. THE ADDITIONALS ARE GOING FOR OVER THE WEB SITE MSRP ALSO. I GOT MINE WITH THE SIDESTEPS,TAILGAIL,LOWER TRIM, WOOD STERRING WHEEL. WOOD SHIFT KNOB, WOOD METER PANEL, MATS AND WHEEL LOCKS. DIDN'T GO FOR THE FACTORY ALARM BECAUSE THEY USE AUDIOVOX SYSTEM WHICH I BELIEVE IS NOT ENOUGH TO PROTECT THE VEHICLE. PROBABLY GO HIGH END VIPER OR CLIFFORD, ALPINE. THE CAR IS GREAT OVERALL. BETTER THAN EXPECTATIONS. I TEST DROVE THE ML320.ML500, AND THE X5 AND THIS SUV HAS THE MOST ROOM AND HANDLING. I'M TALL SO THIS HAS PLENTY OF ROOM LIKE A DUNALI, YUKON, ESCAPADE,AND EXPEDITION WHICH I ALSO WAS CONSIDERING BUT THE GAS MILEAGE ON THOSE WOULD KILL IT FOR AN EVERYDAY CAR. AUDIO SYSTEM IS EXCELLENT, NAVAGATION IS GREAT AND EASY TO USE VERY USER FRIENDLY, SHOULDER ROOM GREAT TOO. THE 2002 IS QUIETER RIDE THAN THE PRIOR YEAR DUE TO THICKER GLASS AND INSULATION. NO MORE WEEPING MIRROWS, AND GAS TANK SOUND HAS BEEN FIXED. I HAVEN'T HEARD ANY BRAKE HISS YET THAT I HEARD PEOPLE HEARD ON THERE 2002'S.
OVERALL VERY HAPPY WITH THE SUV ONLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PRICING UP HERE IN THE NORTHEAST. KNOW FOR A FACT SOUTH IS AT MSRP AND SO IS WEST COAST. TRY TO POST A PIC IN UPCOMMING DAYS, AND UPDATE WITH ANY NEW GOODS AND BADS, BUT NONE SO FAR. i recently took the suv to nyc and the navagation system was on the money even going through the midtown tunnel and all over the city its amazing the accuracy of the system and the user friendly-ness of system. overall very tight not a sound or squeak to be heard in the vehicle so far its great. antone know about the break in period should i keep it under 55 miles per hour for the first 1000 miles or just alternate the rpm's only. keep you guys up to date

Congrats on new baby. Sorry about having to pay over MSRP - should have made a road trip to sunny FL. They even threw in a few "extras".

I felt the same way. Was really considering the Exped. or Navig. I did have an Explorer and felt like I needed extra room, but after careful consideration (and looking at my credit card limits) we decided that if we needed more room then the "X" we would just take Maddie and the Ranger (husband's truck). It is difficult to get 4 dogs and golf clubs and suitcases in one vehicle  (maybe I need a bus:rolleyes: ). Took our first road trip for Thanksgiving, only 95 miles, but the mpg was 21, which I thought was pretty good (was 19 on Exp.) Enjoy the ride and looking for pics soon;) .
sidesteps vs running boards

Hi,

I just bought a used granite green touring model and I'd like to add sidesteps or running boards... on the acura website it's hard to tell much difference between the two... Could someone help me to tell the difference?

I have a two year old and I'd like for him to be able to climb in on his own.

Thanks :00)
Both are same, if you consider the utility. The difference is how they look. I have heard reasons to have each of them. I chose to have the side steps for the looks.
Paul123, thanks for the post and the $$ info. Yikes!! Supply and demand in the Northeast?

Bottom line, you probably paid market rate, so forget the price and enjoy your black beauty. It is worth it, even at over MSRP.
Congratulations

Congrats on your new ride paul123.

I agree with you on the quiet ride and no weeping mirrors on the 2002 MDX, but my 02' MDX has the brake hissing sound and the gas tank wave sound, particularly when it is half tank down. It seems I will have to keep that tank from 3/4 to full every time :(
I would like to know if other 02' MDXers are having those problems. Thanks!
