Lots of talk on here of MPGs, high octane vs low and so on. took a short trip and these were mine. I'd say about 90/10 highway to city and running 87 octane.

I'm pretty ok with the MPG, after all I was driving 80 to 85 most of the time. I-10's a racetrack. Thoughts?

I use ethanol free gas as much as I can, expensive but well worth it imo

My mileage on ethanol-free gas is about 2mpg better than the typical 10% ethanol gas.
**** ethanol! (Unless it's e85)

There was a bid recently to make new England an ethanol free gas region, but all the states had to sign on and the northern states wouldn't do it for some reason. 😞

Oh god my favorite topic!

I think MPGs should be negligible between the 3rd generation and 4th generation due to the same powertrain and similar curb weight. If anyone wants to take my route on doing a test run, FL turnpike, 87 or 93 doesn't matter, 60 MPH on CC or ACC (driver's preference) and do the run. Must be from a fuel station of a brand to another fuel station of the same brand. And use hand calculations, not going off of the on-board computer.

We put 87 in our MDX. We typically get 16-18mpg mostly city driving, and 24-25 mostly highway driving.

And no discernible difference between 87 and high octane for power - this boat still moves when you get on it  ;)

What model are you driving and what dynamic mode do you typically use? I have ‘23 Advanced AWD and consistently average a disappointing 20.5 mpg probably 60/40 highway/town with mostly 87 octane. My previous 3rd Gen 2019 FWD averaged 25mpg. I have also wondered about how the dynamic mode used affects mpg. Any thoughts on that?

2023 Tech package. Running as much on ACC as possible. Mode is set to Dynamic with mostly Normal controls. FWD.

2023 A-Spec here. At just over 6,700 miles, averaging 19.1 mpg overall. Probably 70/30 rural/highway driving. My gen 1 MDX only got 19 mpg highway on it's best days. Huge improvement in efficiency 17 yrs later. Shocking, I know. So, the ~19 overall is fine with me given the size of the vehicle, etc. If I wanted an economy car, clearly, I wouldn't chose a 3 row SUV.

Some days I look at my mpg and wish I would have gotten the hybrid aviator. But then I remember that any money I would've saved on gas would've gone into repairs (from what I read)

That hybrid aviator was super cool, I have a feeling the next gen of performance hybrids are going to be amazing. Get me like 40-50 miles of range in electric and the additive gas+electric powertrain and I'm all in.

No doubt my first foray into EVs will likely be a hybrid. It seems like such a logical and necessary step in the transition for many drivers. I've heard so many positive reports from owners. But, I too would be hesitant to take that step with Ford Motor Co.

22' MDX Aspec AWD, 87 octane 800 miles hwy 20.6 avg. 93 octane 800 miles hwy 21.1. Both trips were around 70-85mph. I attribute the difference really to resetting the miles and some aggressive acceleration to the freeway. The hand calculations were 21 whether i filled up partial or full tanks. That is the best case scenario with all highway. I believe the combined mpg, when I am daily driving, is around 19mpg.
My 19' Ridgeline is FWD and the same highway trips I have gotten 29mpg and even up to 31 for short time feathering the gas pedal directly after filling up on 87 octane and hitting the highway with no aggressive acceleration the entire time. I think the avg daily driving for it is around 24 or 25mpg, if my memory serves correctly. So that would be what some people are seeing here with the MDX FWD getting 25mpg.

I should clarify only 93 octane to attain 19.1 mpg overall after 6,700 miles. Also, highway speed limit in many areas of MI is 75 so, cruise set at 84. Where it's 70, cruise set at 79.
