MDX Touring Feature...

Hi all..

Just had a question about what I thought was a feature in the 2002 MDX touring package.. don't the side mirrors tilt down when I go to reverse? Mine don't and I'm wondering if there is any way I could have turned that off or any way to turn it on? Just a question..

Only the right side mirror tilts down in reverse and there's no on or off switch for it.
Yep, it's supposed to drop down. I don't have the manual in front of me, but try checking the mirror switch on the driver's door. See if putting the switch itself in the "neutral" position has any effect. Otherwise, it sounds like a broken connection, or somebody didn't hook it up right.
MDX Mirror Tilting

Make sure that the adjustment switch for the side mirrors is in the middle position (this is the switch by the driver side to move the mirror up-down left-right). You only leave it on the left or right position if you don't want the passenger side mirror to tilt down during reverse. This quote was contributed by another MDX member, I just did a search for it and found it .
So there is a switch............ I thought that switch works only for the side mirror heater

There are two switches and a small joystick. One of the switches toggles left-neutral-right for mirror control, and the joystick controls the mirror movement. The other switch turns on the mirror heater. Keep the toggle switch in the middle, or neutral position when you're not actually adjusting a mirror.
Macky:

Not that switch .. it's the switch which selects the power to the mirrors.
locate the switch button for side mirrors. On the driver side.

keep switch on the right side (as if you are using Rt.-side mirror).

should work-mine works.

If this is in middle/ on Lt.side, tilt does not work.

Hate to argue here rosewil, but you need the mirror selector switch in the middle position for the right side mirror to tilt down when you put the car in reverse. Check your owner's manual.......pg111. :)
I have 2002 mdx ,instructions for touring tilt mirror is on page 105.

My touring mirror tilt works with selector switch in right position

mine works.

No arguments.
Ok.. I may need to do more playing with my unit. It's not a big feature for me.

I have seen mine worked before.. I have seen it not work before. If I remember right, this function does not work when I tilt the right mirror too far facing up. I don't seem to think that I must leave the left door switch thing to any particular position. If the feature is program to work and is set to work, why should the switch matter?

This may be a good Sunday exercise...

;)
My apologies rosewil.........I see there are some more subtle differences between '01s & '02s. Thanks for the reply :)

Apparently, there are differences from one '02 to another as well. Mine operates only with the switch in the center position.
Mine operates only when the switch is in the middle. I guess resewil has an extra feature on his car. Congratulations.
Center only for me

In my 2002 the side-mirror-tilt-down feature is only activated if the mirror control switch is in the middle position. I'm pretty sure that the manual specifies that. I noticed it because I was in the habit of leaving the switch (in other cars) in the left postion (so I could quickly adjust the driver mirror). I noticed (like MSN_MDX) that one of the touring features I paid for didn't seem to be working. Well, I RTFM and moved the switch to the middle, and it started working. I assume that there are 2 reasons for that. One would be to keep you from trying to adjust the mirror when it was forced to the down position. The other to be allow you to disable the feature when you didn't want it to happen.

i apologise for my thread. it works when the switch in mid-position. sorry, sorry for incorrect instructions.

Maybe it has to be in mid-position before starting the car.
Great Ending to Thread!!

Sorry, but this struck my funny bone:

Undocumented MDX anti-theft provision acitvated with the driver side mirror selector switch: "Maybe it has to be in mid-position before starting the car".

Here's a brain teaser:

Try to figure out the memory seat beeps on the Touring model -- local dealer is working on the same issue -- let's see who gets there first!! Please note that local dealer is getting help from American Honda techs [not sure which side gets the advantage].
