Yup, checks out: Google Street View

I go faster than that all summer long at track days but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable going that fast in the MDX ... if one of those tall-sidewall tires were to blow out ... YIKES

My 08 (2nd gen) MDX hit 130mph in fourth gear at around 5,200 rpm, I believe there’s a top speed limit because the transmission is a 5-speed. Anyone know how to remove the limiter?

Wow! The thread that keeps going!
Since I commented 8 years ago, we went from the 2001 to a 2012.

The previous owner leased it, put every conceivable option and even every dealer installed option AND the wheels from the RDX on it then proceeded to die. Apparently it sat for the last year because it was cheaper for the estate or whatever but Long story short, I bought it from the dealer in ‘15 with about 25k miles.

At first I thought that Acura had really improved on high speed stability. I drive from Miami to Sarasota regularly (my kids row) for regattas and I noticed I was going 95-100 and it felt way more stable than the ‘01.

Plus it had Z rated rubber on it. On those big RDX rims. Those big RDX rims. Huh..... I checked the GPS. And sure enough, I’m not doing 100. I’m doing 92.
But what the heck, I’m on Alligator Alley and no one around so I take it up to a real 100mph. 101, 102. Aaaaaand back down to 90.

Big nope from me. I don’t know how you guys going over 110in this brick fit in your cars with balls that size. It may be able to go over 120 but hell if I’m gonna do it.

And I’ve gone fast. I have my racing license from Skip Barber. I’m no stranger to taking a sharp turn at over 100 in a little metal cigar with my ass less than an inch off the road. But not in the MDX!

Hahahahaha! Wait! ....okay, okay, okay! (Joe Pesci voice)...
First...You say 90 like it’s the legal limit! I’m up here in New Hampshire and our “highway” is 70 max and (mumble mumble), I’ve accidentally seen people creep up on me while they were doing 20 over (said in a poor try cryptically so as not to incriminate myself). But on Alligator Alley? Uh, haha, okay...I haven’t been down there in about 25 years but “Alligator Alley” has that name for a reason (or it did). I remember seeing those nasty log lookin’ things lined up along the side of the road on that stretch. I would NOT want to accidentally make ALPO out of one of those things in anything except a big rig at 90+. That’s like being the cue ball on a billiard table, after the hit (just in case most people are too focused on the other ball), the cue DOESN’T keep going straight!!

Ok. First, put the booze away. Lol. On second thought, nah. Let me take a few sips from my mason jar instead. Oh yeah. There we go.

Alligator Alley is not the old one you remember. I crossed it back in ‘88 with my ‘69 Road Runner convertible and I get what you are alluding to. Those days are over. These days it’s a 4 lane affair (two each way) with a wide berth. Not the cramped two lane deathtrap with vegetation creeping up on each side.

Showed my age huh?!!! I do remember that it was flat and pretty straight and would make a perfect spot to open her up sometime.
also....never put the booze away. “Makes the noises hurt less” LOL
It’s rare to find those roads anymore, everything is always rebuilt with speed traps and hidden “tucks”, so they can make some money off of the person who likes to have a quick fun moment.

Second gen MDX's top speed is 210 km/h, or about 131 mph and it's not because of the RPM, but because that's more than enough.

Yes, you can remove the limiter by flashing the appropriate firmware, but unless you live in Germany with regular access to autobahn, you won't use anything more than 100 on a regular basis as you simply do not have limits more than around 80 anywhere I believe.

AcuraAddicted....did you say “more than enough”??!! Ohhhhh, those are dirty words when speaking of many things (I can think of about 8), but as far as a vehicle forum goes there is never enough speed and horsepower. Now say your sorry before the horsepower junkies start coming out of the shadows to dine on your bones my friend!!

I do remember that’s the road where I found out what “front end float” means when the Road Runner hit 125 mph and that rolling brick‘s front end seemed to lose all its weight! I quickly took my foot off the accelerator. Even 19 year old me wasn’t dumb enough to risk that. 53 year old me won’t do it in an MDX either. Too high off the ground. Doesn’t feel connected at anything over 90-95 mph.

Maybe if it was lowered and lightened and stiffened with a roll cage or at least some “frame” reinforcement.

But I would go the other way with mods. I would want more soundproofing and isolation from the road. My other car is a Lexus LS430 and it’s such a relaxing drive.

Yep. Again, unless you live in Germany where there is no speed limit, you would not be able to take it even to 130 mph. Just facts, nothing personal.
Tell that to the Corvette I was driving on I-95 at well over 140mph until the smart part of my brain said "are you stupid?" But I get what you mean... going at anything near 100+ mph on the highway for more than a few moments will likely get you a trip straight to jail.

You know the part of your brain that says “just have one beer” but then you ignore it? That part. 😂

I’ve heard of this...happening in nature....but I’VE NEVER SEEN IT PERSONALLY!
“Only have one beer”? That’s called, “the wife’s driving home”!
“Slow down”? HELL, that doesn’t exist in my house! My wife drives faster more often in our MDX than I do! So...nobody to pass the keys to on that one! When I bought my 05’ Subie WRX SE, she was the first to...(cough, cough, muffled words), “exceed the speed limit” with it!
She came home and threw the keys in my lap and said, “surprisingly stable at speed sweetheart...GOOD PURCHASE!”
Me: 😳🤯😤
“I wanted to go first!!!!!”
