I just saw these pictures on a website and had to post for the members of acuramdx.org to see. This is not my vehicle, I just saw it and thought it was amazing. I believe the owner walked away with only a scratch and has an order for another MDX on the way.:D

WOW! If they walked away w/ only a scratch, it says alot about the build quality of the "X":D

Speaking of Transmission Cooler, had the towing kit installed only to find that the additional circulator pump kicks on when the engine is warm and makes more damn noise than the engine. No more stealth trips through the park, sounds like my old Jeep.

I totalled my '01 MDX in a rollover...

Attached is a photo of my 2001 MDX which I recently totalled in a rollover accident. I was of course wearing my seatbelt, and I was able to walk away with only a few minor cuts and knots on my head! I was taking an "S" curve too fast and lost control. I was the only person in the car when it happened, and there were no other vehicles involved.

I loved my MDX. I got it on New Year's Eve 2000 and had put 29K miles on it in 18 months. I hope none of you ever has such an accidnet in your MDX, but I thought you might appreciate knowing what a safe car it is!

Will I be getting anothr MDX? Well, as much as I loved that car, there was one thing that annoyed me - the fact that the seats did not fold completely flat in the back really bugged me. I have a large dog that I like to take with me, and when I set her crate up in the back of the MDX, it was on a slant which was not very comfortable for the dog. Even with the dog riding loose, she was on a slant... I am looking at getting a Honda Odyssey instead since it has more room in the back, and a flat floor.

Sincerely,

Maureen B

Maureen B,

First, I am glad you are fine and were not injured.

Could you please provide more details on your accident? That would be very helpful to those of us who own the vehicle or are contemplating purchase.

I am most concerned about the severity of the damage to the roof. The A-pillar on the passenger side was very badly damaged and there was definite crushing of the roof.

I realize that every accident is different, and in some accidents, a vehicle incurs little damage, but in others, it gets very badly damaged. However, it is true that some vehicles simply don't have particularly strong roof structures. There's always been a fear among some of us that the MDX is one of them.

How many times did your vehicle roll over? Did it land on its roof?

Did the vehicle roll on a concrete or asphalt highway surface, or on a grassy shoulder?

Was the roll a "slow roll" (you can see it rolling while your life passes before your eyes) or did it flip over very quickly (over and out quickly)?

Thank you, Maureen. And once again, I am thankful you were not seriously hurt.

Glad you are OK.

About how fast was you going?

I know some of take the width of the X for granted and drive a little to fast in curves and corners some time. Time to slow down.

Glad you were alone

The passenger seat looks like it took more damage than the driver. I am glad you are OK.

Note the roof rack

William, I am sure you recall debating several photos in the past wondering IF we were looking at a true rollover - those other photos showed no damage to the roof rack. Maureen's rollover shows what we all expected - severe damage to the roof, especially the rack. Those old speculative photos were not true rollovers.

Yes. The most recent rollover photo was a "slow" 1x rollover. That may explain why that photo had relatively little damage. These photos may be of a more "realistic" rollover. Though note the driver's side mirror is intact.

There's no arguing that this was a rollover. :D

Again, I'm glad she is okay.

maureen, yowsa....glad you lived to tell us about that....hate to have that happen to anybody, especially a fellow Texan.:(

On a different topic, you mention that the seats in the back don't fold flat.....are you referring to the 3rd row seats, which fold pretty flat, IMO or the second row, which do not? I have both an O and an X, so I am wondering.

The Ody's 3rd row also folds perfectly flat, but the second row, of course, doesn't.....you remove the seats entirely for more room.

Would the Ody give you what you need while the X wouldn't?
